About Serenity at Summit – Haverhill

Serenity at Summit is at 61 Brown Street in Haverhill. Methuen is 6.9 miles away and Lawrence 7.3. Methuen, Lawrence, Amesbury and Boxford all sit within 8 miles of the door. Haverhill sits in Essex County, and the county’s own provision is limited enough that this site draws from a wide area.

Serenity at Summit offers detox, residential treatment and sober living. Buprenorphine, methadone or naltrexone can be prescribed alongside therapy. Co-occurring conditions are handled concurrently rather than one after the other. Video appointments are an option here. Veterans are a named group here. Federal registration is held through SAMHSA and licensing through the Massachusetts Bureau of Substance Addiction Services.

Serenity at Summit – Haverhill Detox and Rehab Services

Serenity at Summit – Haverhill offers detox, residential treatment and sober living. Withdrawal is managed under clinical observation before other treatment begins, which matters most in the first seventy-two hours for alcohol and benzodiazepines. Cost, travel and waiting time are all worth weighing together.

Both conditions are treated in parallel, which is what the research supports. Transitional accommodation appears on the record for the period after intensive treatment. Medication and talking treatment run together under clinical oversight. Ask how the program handles someone who has been through treatment before.

As a nurse with a background in addiction treatment, I can’t say enough good things about Serenity at Summit New England. Their combination of compassionate, individualized care, evidence-based treatment, and a… genuinely supportive environment is exactly what quality addiction treatment should look like. Kelly, the Program Director, is exceptional at what she does. She’s knowledgeable, dedicated, and, most importantly, genuinely cares about the people she serves and the work being done there. I would highly recommend Serenity to anyone looking for a strong, supportive foundation for long-term recovery.

Place has amazing people here and is run very well. Still has room to improve for 1 on 1 counseling. Most counseling is done in a group so your personal endeavors and info is aired out most of the time. However this… place will proved a place to heal and detox extremely comfortably if needed. Bed pillows are plastic covered so bring a pillow and blanket to be more at home.

I’m so grateful for my experience at Serenity Haverhill. Youness, the case manager, truly bends over backwards for his clients and always goes the extra mile. Ashley and John, the clinicians, are amazing and always make… time to help, even if you aren’t their direct client. Brittany, Kelly, Val, and Mike in administration are kind, welcoming, and understanding. The BHTs—Liz, Maya, Genesi, Kaylee, Christine, Johnathan, and Austin—are also wonderful and always make sure our needs are met. Not everyone is named here, but every single person is truly appreciated. Each of you has played a meaningful role in my journey and helped me gain the tools I need to continue fostering my wellbeing. I came here at one of the lowest points in my life, and I’m leaving with a renewed sense of hope and strength. I’m genuinely grateful for this team and everything they’ve done for me. ❤️

Serenity in MA is my first (hopefully last) trip to a treatment facility like this. The nurses and staff that care directly for our lost souls are special people with unbelievably forgiving and understanding hearts. The… compassion shown during detox was great and my week in residential was amazing. I left healed and with connections that supported me in treatment and still do to this day. I talked with a lot of other clients during my stay and most say this is the best one in the area. Small word of caution using insurance may be more costly than paying directly yourself.

The staff and facility is amazing here! I’ve been to many different inpatient places and I truly have never met a more genuine and caring group of staff from nurses to techs to clinicians to case managers and… housekeeping. I can’t say enough about all of them. They truly make a difference and I’m forever grateful. 🥹

I came here seeking healing. Instead, I left with more trauma than I arrived with. My experience at this facility was deeply disappointing. From the beginning, there was a noticeable lack of support, largely due to… understaffing. When someone enters a mental health facility during one of the most vulnerable moments of their life, they expect to receive care, guidance, and a sense of safety. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I left this facility carrying more emotional trauma than I had when I was admitted. During my stay, I experienced two extremely distressing incidents involving another patient. I was subjected to derogatory language, and the environment became so unsafe that many patients, including myself, were left feeling frightened and traumatized. Despite how deeply these incidents affected patients, the individual was allowed to return after the first incident. Shortly afterward, another serious outburst occurred involving violent behavior and hateful comments directed toward women and people of different races. I can only speak for my own experience, but I never received any follow-up or support after these events, despite the emotional impact they had on me. I ultimately felt unable to complete my treatment because I no longer felt safe in the environment that was supposed to help me heal. I want to acknowledge the Behavioral Health Technicians. They worked hard, treated patients with kindness, and did the best they could despite being placed in what appeared to be an incredibly difficult situation with limited staffing and resources. My criticism is not directed at them. My concern is with the leadership. Mental health facilities have a responsibility to provide a safe therapeutic environment for patients in crisis. I sincerely hope the directors and administrators take a closer look at staffing, patient safety, and how traumatic incidents are handled. No one should seek help during their darkest moments only to leave feeling more traumatized than when they arrived. I rarely write negative reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience in the hope that meaningful changes are made—for the sake of future patients who deserve to feel safe while receiving care.

I want to thank serenity summit for everything they’ve done for me. They changed my life. It is a 5 star facility. It is such a clean place. The staff are really friendly from the techs, case management, clinicians,… housekeepers. They all do an amazing job making you feel comfortable and help you with whatever you need. I’ve been here a few times unfortunately but every time I’m impressed with them. They are easy to talk to and made life long friendships I recommend serenity summit.

Serenity is such a great rehabilitation facility that helped me in many ways. The staff here is exceptional my case manager Youness was amazing and helpful throughout my time here. Gina was also fantastic. Ari, Jay,… Ash, Andrea go above and beyond to provide great support in all aspects of recovery for Behavioral health techs. The groups are great and they tend to have amazing people. I would just recommend getting more case managers and BHTS. This place got me 30 days sober the longest in 9 years and a completion of the program. Thank you Serenity Staff:)

The communication at Serenity is abysmal. A family member was transferred there and we didn't receive any call, welcome or confirmation of admittance from any staff. I called for 3 days before I got ahold of anyone… (they don't pick up and you can't leave a message). I wanted to speak to the NP to ensure they were getting the proper meds, and it took another 2 days before I heard back. Note that Serenity had a full release form, so that wouldn't have been the reason. And, they had the meds wrong and needed to be increased, so my family member was insufficiently medicated for almost 5 days. Justin the case manager would promise to call back the next day, and then it would take 4 days and multiple follow-ups before he did. Justin promised he would update me on Monday regarding the discharge plan (scheduled for Wednesday morning) and it is Thursday afternoon and I have heard NOTHING. The website says "Serenity provides family support" and I would say all Serenity did was promise to call and then never follow-up. UNACCEPTABLE. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars (versus 1) is I believe that John the therapist did a good job working with my family member and made some good progress with them.

This place only made my life worse! They are understaffed and unorganized. The human rights officer is also the clinical director so your issues mean nothing to her. I only seen a therapist 2 times in the month that I… was there. Never got me family medical leave because they are so understaffed. Only one case manager for 20 clients. Who was also new and didn’t know what he was doing. I complained to the state and the next day I was discharged. They also destroyed my credit by not letting me use my phone to pay my credit cards. I will now be homeless because of never getting fml and my credit being so bad after my stay. Please if you need help go to bedrock in canton or the haven in Worcester where you get to use your phone and a gym.
