Wellstar involuntarily sent me here. I did not like the environment or the staff. It was not a good experience. It was unsafe and this place needs to be shut down 👎🏽

You do have ppl that care about their loved ones! It would be nice if they answered the phone to inform us on what’s going on. Placing someone on medication and keeping them because they aren’t participating in groups… is unethical! How much do you all get paid to house a patient? How can you expect a patient to make clear and conscious decisions when y’all have them doped up on medications that aren’t helping! Yall keep giving the medicine that’s keeping them high or incoherent! It’s all about the money, there is no concern about the well being of the patients! Treat them like humans and not lab rats! If I dont get an answer and a release of my loved one. I will be calling the state.. the attorney general and whomever else I need to call! My word is my bond. I do not play about my loved one! A storm is coming! Asé Ooo💫 Update: They are still holding her!

DO NOT GO HERE! I was admitted to this facility recently and had a very distressing experience. I repeatedly told staff I was not experiencing psychosis, and multiple nurses agreed with me, yet the psychiatrist avoided… speaking with me for days and pressured me to take medication I did not need. I felt unheard, unsupported, and confused about my rights the entire time. The environment was emotionally overwhelming, and communication was extremely limited. My earrings were missing when I was discharged also. I’m sharing this so others know to advocate for themselves and ask clear questions if they come here. This experience left me with significant emotional distress, and I hope the facility improves transparency and patient communication. I would NOT send my loved one, let alone myself to this facility whatsoever

My son has been a patient here since Thursday, and today is Monday. I have received no call regarding his patient information, approved contacts, calls, or visitation list. I only found out today, after my mother called… me, that she was not on the list to speak with or visit him. I had to call the hospital myself to address this. About 30 minutes before writing this review, a technician told me my son had been aggressive and had been given medication to calm him to the point of sleeping. I was also told a similar incident occurred yesterday involving aggression toward other children. I am only repeating what staff told me. My question is: Why wasn't I, his parent, notified? Nurse Chandra called me back, and instead of feeling heard, I felt dismissed and spoken to condescendingly. She wasn't working yesterday, so I asked why she hadn't reviewed his chart to explain what happened, especially since staff knew why I was requesting a call. She told me she had answered all my questions, which she did not. She also corrected me by saying it wasn't a "shot," but a pill for anxiety and calming. Whether it was a shot or pill is not my point. My child was medicated to the point of sleeping, and I was not notified. I asked to speak with a supervisor, and the call ended. When I called back, I was told I had been placed on hold. I strongly disagree and request that the call recording be reviewed. I became extremely upset and used inappropriate language, which I acknowledge was wrong. However, I was calling repeatedly because I was trying to get answers about my child. I have repeatedly requested a supervisor and was told someone would call me back. I am still waiting. I also spoke with Dr. Lunford on Saturday, and that interaction did not reassure me either. I understand behavioral health situations can be difficult and that staff have a challenging job. But parents should not have to repeatedly call to find out about significant incidents involving their child. Communication, professionalism, respect, and timely notification should be basic expectations. I already did not want my son at this facility, and this experience has only increased my concerns. Willowbrook was full when my son needed placement, but based on my experience, I wish another option had been available. Parents: please ask questions about communication, incident notifications, medication, visitation, and who you can contact about your child before choosing this facility. My child deserves safe, compassionate care—and I deserve to be informed about what is happening to him. Do better. This review was revised due too character limits. Full review on Yelp!

My husband was sent here about 2 weeks ago. He ended up staying for a week. I was very skeptical at first because how far it was away from our home and the reviews I read online. The first few days he was there were… skeptical also because I couldn't talk to him but every time I called I was updated on his care. When he got better he was allowed to call me. I had a couple people at the front desk that I thought were irritated of me calling but the nurses in his unit were awesome. I thank you all for the care and compassion ya'll gave me husband for him to get better. Ya'll are truly appreciated.

When I first arrived I really felt after a few hours that I didn’t belong . At 46 u never know where god is going to places u when u asked for help but I’m Glad it did a good Service . Most of the people in these places… are different with their own personalities that need a little help developing I’ll say and for me I need confirmation on who I was becoming ! Ms Laura was maybe one of the Best on Compass South ! She spreads so much spiritual and positive love to everyone and mainly treated me as an Individual and not just a pay check or a patient . The respect she showed my thoughts and feelings and help led me really see it was really nothing wrong with me then some who are worst it really helped me walk out those doors knowing I am a Devine child of God and I definitely am chosen as a special person to be a servant thru the kindness I even showed one of the residents and her name is Nun !!!! She was a loving and said she couldn’t speak much English to some but then finally told me thank you and hug 🥰 me before I left Friday they knew my spirit was genuine and real ! All of this was because Ms Laura showed me so much genuine love and time and spiritual enrichment by her words and games and bibles times lord yess those bible times and I know that that means now .. so yes she taught me a lot and gave me a lot to Stand for more then I new I had in me She was a big encouragement to how I walked out that door and the gift that she gave me I really appreciate it those. I appreciate it some of the staff some of them they need a little retouch up on Ethics and genuineness, but I think that the Ethics manager knows his name and he knows that he did an amazing job for my day and that’s all that matter to me, so I applaud Laura in the Ethics team and everybody who made me feel safeB

The place was honestly kind of bad. My roommates were amazing, but our curtain in the bathroom was halfway off, and i reported it to nurses my first night yet they did nothing about it. Eventually on my second til last… night me and my roommate took it into our own hands and decided to fix the curtain ourselves. There was one girl who had a virus and had really bad diarrhea and she was denied care while she was sick. She went hours in quarantine in her room with no one to check up on her. While yes, she was a pain, with faking seizures and throwing poop-covered curtains and blankets into the hallway, she was sick and no one cared to check up on her. Some nurses were really mean, while most techs were amazing. Love the techs. I didn't see a therapist until the second til last day. And they don't have any remorse for girls crying when they get in. They also didn't give any updates to my parents while i was there. Nothing, i had to tell them about my visit and how i was and what medicines i was taking. Not to mention, one night i was there, there was someone from the adult unit banging on the door to the adolescent girls unit for over 30 minutes in the middle of the night and the adults unit nurses were just laughing. This person was screaming and BANGING on this door. Many of us woke up and couldn't fall back asleep. There were roaches and ants in the bathrooms, like everywhere. The food doesn't appease to picky eaters either. Most of the food there is horrible, or one of the most disliked foods. The only meal i had where every time it was good was breakfast, and the desserts they gave out. Overall, I would not recommend this place at all. Peachford would be way better if you're looking for a place to send someone or yourself.

They kept him there several days snd the… doctor have the nerve to say he did not need any medication. . My significant other was involuntarily committed here. It was extremely hard to get information about his status and staff tried persuading him to not sign a release of information form. His own social worker refused to… answer basic procedural questions even once a release was signed. I find that very concerning considering that their parent company UHS had a class action lawsuit for keeping people past when they should have been released to get money from insurance. My SO recalls being asked to sign a form upon admission, under the influence of a sedating medication Seroquel and groggy from the early hour. He was unable to remember what form he signed or recall much about the interaction. Many of the staff members were also INSANELY rude, although I did talk to a few kind people. This place looks and feels much more like a prison and punishment for the mentally ill. It looks closer to a prison than a hospital. I would not send anyone I care about to anchor hospital.

Came in for treatment, lots of work that needs to be improved. Dealt with some rude nurses and techs, staff members were very loud during quiet hours. Food was decent. Some nurses and techs were really nice, special… shoutout to Laura for her support and encouraging spirit. Was not a terrible experience but needs improvement.

My first day there was awful, they placed me with all the other girls and they would scream and get into fights. I have autism and very bad anxiety and I wouldn’t stop crying and no staff comforted me and instead gave… me a random pill and they wouldn’t tell me what it was. The food was ok, but the only great thing I can say about this place is about Miss Laura and Miss Unique. I love them, they were very nice and funny. (But don’t send your kid here, find another place)

I recently stayed on the Acute Women's Unit at Anchor, and I am incredibly grateful for the care I received during one of the hardest times in my life. I came to Anchor to have my medications adjusted, heal from past… trauma, process the death of my NA sponsor, and continue my recovery from an eating disorder. As a person of faith, it meant a lot to me that gospel music was played on the unit. It brought comfort and peace during a difficult season. I especially want to recognize Laura and Silver, who were by far the best techs on the unit. Their kindness, compassion, patience, and genuine concern for patients made a huge difference in my recovery. I also appreciated the support from the other Lauras on the unit—there are three of them, and each contributed to making the environment feel more caring and supportive. The all-women's unit was exactly what I needed. Because I was experiencing significant mania at the time, being in a women's-only environment helped me feel safer and more focused on healing. Most importantly, the team at Anchor was able to figure out my medications and get me stabilized again. I had previously struggled to find the right medication balance elsewhere, and Anchor succeeded where other facilities had not. One thing I would recommend is that patients with food allergies or dietary restrictions be prepared to advocate for themselves to ensure their needs are met. Overall, Anchor helped me through a crisis and gave me the opportunity to begin healing. I am thankful for the staff, especially Laura and Silver, and for the care I received during my stay.

I just wanna start off by saying Ms. Laura, Ms. Sherry, Mr. Emmanuel, Ms. Vorona, and Ms. Kimberley- basically all the techs over the compass unit were so nice and compassionate. They deserve all the kudos for their job… well done. This was my first time having to do inpatient as an adult and it made me feel relieved that I seeked help. All wonderful and loving people who want to see the best in you. The food was above expectations for a mental institution, actual hot and filling meals. The group therapy sessions by Ms. Racquel and Ms. K were awesome and very well oriented. I was treated as a normal person, not someone with a myriad of issues. My social worker, Ms. Jasmine, handled me and a whole lot with the same tenderness and firm care even when she was overbooked with patients. The nurses, Ms. Unique and Ms. Karla(or karly ?) were speedy and careful, two things you don’t get at once with many nurses. They were careful and detail oriented when explaining medicines. All the love and support in the world for the week I spent there, and if I have another crisis I won’t be afraid to go back. Thank you guys!!

I was in the girls unit around November of 2025 from my experience I got the help that I needed. The activities were enjoyable getting to play bingo, coloring, board games, etc. The food was great especially breakfast… also the fry chicken is really good. The nurses are respectful and really care about us, just be sure to treat them with the same respect. Nobody there will bother you for no reason without you saying something negative towards someone else. I’m glad I got sent here, this place has changed me for the better. Thank you.

I loved Anchor Hospital because Elanta the nurse was always there for me. I would come in her office and crying or even have a bad day where it was hard for me to face those days. Tamara the therapist, who have she hee… story and take her time to listen and provide us those coping skills as well. She always gives a way of telling you a way to handle what your though. Eva the other therapist who allows you to cry and provide comfort to your situation and a solution. These three people has in their own way of helping you through your ordeal. Even though your emotions rather it's up or down, the three combinations makes it worth coming back to this place.

I feel like a better person and I’m confident I will do well in the real world now. Anchor php was the best decision I have made in a long time. The staff never made me feel less than because of my addiction. Ms. Tamara is amazing in how she holds the place together and still take care of our needs… too. Provides very thought provoking groups. Ms. Eva gives the best information and handouts. And thanks to Audrey for helping me with my social security! My only complaint with group is the constant walking in and out by my peers. I wish there was a way to better manage it.

Was in for 8 days my 8th grade year , so about 2 years ago. Staff as great, food was good, peers were friendly and taken care of, environment was peaceful and good to work in, I felt like the whole experience really… helped me and I would definitely spend more time there if I could.

My experience was pretty good. Although I prefer one on one therapy. Anchor gave me encouragement, support and it allowed me time to be around others who are also experiencing different things. Anchor has very excellent… therapist. I’m thankful for Tamara, Eva, Elanta, Audrey and Faith. I truly recommend Anchor.
