Had great experience through groups!
I went to groups from closely four years. In November, I had majors back surgery. And before the surgery, I had permission from Jack to take pain medicine.Because I was in so much pain. All of a sudden , in my last group… they made me stay over and heather and jack attacked me saying , I lost my medicine once and that I didn't turn in drug screens , and that I was overtaking pain medicine that I was not doing. So they dismissed me from the program and cut off my medicine. There.\n's much more to the story , but I think it's a lot of bull. Now I am going through major withdrawals because they cut my medicine off.And i'm getting ready to go to the hospital because I have heart failure now. I was so shocked.I can't believe they did this to me.I hung up on them because they were yelling at me and I am not putting up with that. Jack even talked to my surgeon through paperwork and I had permission to be on pain medicine with my suboxone from both doctors. So I don't know what I did wrong. They were saying I did a whole bunch of stuff wrong so they dismissed me from the program. I hope somebody from higher up reads this.Because I can't get a hold of anybody to make a complaint. It doesn't matter anyway.I'm done with this place. It used to be a good place now. It's not.
Excellent online group!
To be clear, I have really loved this program over the years and I have been in it for 15 years or so. I've been in Groups RT since we had to drive to Tipton Indiana to make a group. Over time (and especially recently)… they have started making changes that are frustrating. Probably the biggest one is removing the office coordinators from being in the meetings. We barely have time to share already in such large groups and now that our counselor has to handle all of the tasks that used to be handled by our coordinator, the substance of our group is reduced to checking all the boxes that the company needs and we get no time to really talk substance/recovery. One of the MOST IMPORTANT ASPECTS of having access to groups is being able to share in the group. The company needs to strongly reconsider this change. This review will remain 1 star until it does. I'm also advising all the other members who've been upset by this to do the same. The second issue is that our local pharmacies are often making getting our scripts impossible to do on time, but we're being punished by having our prescriptions reduced. It's almost to the point where it's easier to go to another program or get the medication off the streets than it is to deal with the pharmacies and their BS. I have recorded phone calls, taken screen shots from the CVS app, and been open and honest about what's been happening. My prescription personally was cut down to 1/3rd it's original amount. I can't survive on that so now I am FORCED to get medication from other sources to supplement until I can find some way or method of making this work. This company used to pride itself on NEVER punishing members by taking away their medication. For over a DECADE I was able to come here successfully. Now I am considering looking into another program. I don't know who is making all of these new changes in the program, but they are clearly not a recovering addict and they have NO CLUE how hard it is. They continue to buckle down more and more on restrictions. This went from a program who set out to help people... to a program that is becoming too unbearable to maintain. LISTEN to your counselors advice, LISTEN to your office coordinators. People in recovery have so much to worry about in their lives already. Expecting them to adhere to such crazy strict rules is simply punishment. They need this medication. This is supposed to be about saving lives. The heroin dealer is right down the road and he's not going to put all these punishments and restrictions on that addict.
I have been with Groups going on 2 years of my 3 year sobriety journey. Having the weekly groups in the privacy of your own home where you are comfortable makes it easier for those who struggle with anxiety be able to… participate. Having the weekly drug screens you are asked to submit help to hold you accountable. Each counselor really gets to know their patients and not only care but also help navigate what is going on in your life to help you find goals and solutions.
I'm glad I heard about GROUPS . They are well manored and will help you anyway they can. !
Groups Recovery Together has helped me immensely. They remove or help remove any and all barriers to getting and staying sober. I cannot say enough good things about the people who have worked with me in my process. I… recommend them every where I go and to all people I see.
I have been going to groups for almost 6 years and if it weren’t for them i don’t know where i would be! Groups saved my life and helped me in more ways than i can even explain or put into words. i am beyond grateful!
Love it changed my life tremendously
Groups has changed my entire life when I first started I had nothing and nobody and now just a few months later my whole life is on track I own my own house and none of my money goes towards drugs and goes towards… family and the people I love and care about and it's all because of groups!!! Thanks for my life back!!!!!!!💯💪
Very helpful
Just updating my review. Things have gotten a bit better in terms of being too busy for the number of employees they have to handle. Or the number of mistakes has reduced maybe? I can say I haven't had a whole lot of… issues pop up lately, there was a big one a few months back but it got fixed kind of and I got through it. One thing you need to understand, one person can only do so much! And the office has TWO office managers, they are OMs for over God only knows, 400? 500 people EACH! If not more by now. So things are going to happen. Part of your growth is is learning how to deal with those things. In a healthy manner. You have to be accountable, if you aren't serious about recovery, you will be weaded out. You cannot show up once and get your script and not show for groups all the time and expect them to take you seriously. There are a large number of people that are lack luster about their sobriety and like to play games, as addicts do. And maybe the bad reviews are because they are no longer going to tolerate that.? It isn't a perfect machine, but what they are doing, the heart of the company is really something pretty amazing. They go through councelors like water, but the company can't control what happens with employees and who stays and who don't right? So again no harm, no foul. I also would like to point out that the kokomo office managers have always been respectful as all get out to me? And almost 100% of the time they are overly happy, joking, laughing, I have never seen the attitudes from them that I've seen written about in these reviews, in fact I'd go as far as to say it's out of character for them if they did actually act in the manner a few have said in these reviews.
The people that work with Groups are very happy and caring people not just one of them but ALL of them they have been very caring and helpful, concerned about my issues as much as theirs! Love groups!!
I have nothing but good things to say about this company. They helped me out in a time of need and I'm still in the program after two months. I have not experienced anything bad like some of the other reviewers have… said. I would definitely recommend them. It saved my life!
This is regarding the Kokomo location. It is unprofessional to state to a client “You are just trying to play the system.” The client was trying to resolve issues with their prescription and a bill that was never… addressed. The client is unable to ever get in contact with their office manager, calls are never returned. I am absolutely appalled that a person who works with those who are fighting to live life in sobriety could say such a thing. This office is rude, does not try to help, and will judge you. I believe the company needs to provide better training to their employees and hire people who do not judge addicts.
This company does not care about you or your health. They are never in office when they are supposed to be, they never inform you of any changes, they screw you out of your meds the first chance they get. I do not… recommend going here unless you want to be thrown around and treated like you do not matter.
THE FOLLOWING IS CONCERNING THE KOKOMO INDIANA LOCATION : In my experience with this place is not so good I did have a friendly counselorWho genuinely cared about me, ButThe office management lacks in the area of… professionalism and communication. I have an instance this week where I was unable to make my group meeting on Tuesday bc of something totally out of my control and I mean totally, and they would not be able to go to the make up groups offered. Then was informed that this meant that I would be unable To get my prescription filled until my next Group which is not until next Tuesday. So to meThat tells me that recovery is not what is important to them bc if it was there is no way they would think that not giving a client meds for 6 days is a good idea. I also just assumed in this line of work you would have to be certified member of the BBB. This company is not. It's sad bc isn't what people need in recovery If you read all of this pray for me please bc I don't want to slip. Thank you For three record I put 1 star for rating bc it wouldn't let me post without it and plus I really liked my counselor Jan
Groups Recover Together is an awesome place. The staff is wonderful and they really do care about people. I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for them. My counselor is the best. So if you want to get clean I highly… recommend Groups, they will help you every step of the way.
