About BHC Intermountain Hospital – Boise
BHC Intermountain Hospital operates from 303 North Allumbaugh Street in Boise. The site sits in Ada County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include Boise City, Garden City and Kuna. Idaho draws people across long distances for treatment, so travel time is worth weighing against waiting time.
Hospital inpatient care, detox, residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and outpatient care are delivered here, alongside medication-assisted treatment and care for co-occurring mental health conditions. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves.

Detox and Rehab Services at BHC Intermountain Hospital
Withdrawal management covers alcohol, benzodiazepine, cocaine, methamphetamine and opioid dependence and is handled on site rather than referred elsewhere. Someone starting in detox can move into residential care without changing provider or repeating an intake. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.
Residential here is short-term, which makes what follows discharge the more important question. Buprenorphine and naltrexone are available and paired with counseling rather than prescribed alone. Co-occurring mental health conditions are treated in the same building rather than split across providers.

Intermountain hospital is very helpful to me
Their Doctors are judgmental and unresponsive to your needs. I highly dis outage anybody going here to receive psychiatric treatment. They were dismissive of my concerns, refused previous diagnosis that I’ve had… confirmed by multiple other providers and did not provide medical attention nor appropriate medications. On top of the staff being overly aggressive and the group therapist being unknowledgeable and the amenities being either broken or dirty. The groups were repetitive and they were outright mean at times. Especially for those struggling with severe depression please value your life enough to go to a better hospital like Saint Alphonsus or Cottonwood. I left in an even worst state than before.
It was really great.
Breakfast sucks... the cheese burgers are good tho
Every staff member was very kind and understanding. It could be a little cleaner. The floors need mopped. But overall a good place. Thank you
Please see the review from Chase Thompson. Everything he said is correct and accurate, and I was not taken care of appropriately. To demonstrate this clearly, the ONLY interventions they gave to me, I asked for MYSELF.… TOTAL BAIT AND SWITCH saying they will help you, but do not honor basic necessities. I couldn’t even get the medications I had at home, I would’ve been safer at home without ANY assistance from Intermountain Hospital. They didn’t even get me a welcome packet - I found one on my own ON DAY 5. Do not send your family there nor go there yourself if you need inpatient psychiatric care .
Would not trust this place to care for my dead grandmother. Staff had poor listening skills. Dr. Saw me for 15 minutes and changed my entire medication regimen my VA care team spent 3 years trying to find the right fit… for me. Missed pain management and therapy appointments to sit in groups that I used to lead. I contracted a UTI and walked around with a heating pad in my pants and popping Tylenol. Went in voluntarily because they told me if I didn’t they would put me on a hold. I had no rights to make informed decisions on my medical care and was threatened with a hold if I tried. I didn’t feel heard, safe, or cared for. I did feel gaslit and lost some dignity. Staff made promises they couldn’t keep and tried to talk me into staying after discharge orders were signed. I left more traumatized and I was plenty traumatized when I went in. Inter mountain could use more training in physical ailments, building patient relationships and trust, and listening skills. The patients there are traumatized, sick, scared, confused, but they are not stupid. Zero star for me.
Unfortunately I would not recommend this place for any reason. The floor staff and nurses are wonderful, but the facility seems either incredibly understaffed or blatantly mismanaged. Trying to advocate for a family… member or loved one is incredibly difficult, if not impossible. False promises were made during intake to almost lure you in, but they will not provide the care they say they will. The case management team is a complete joke and they should be ashamed of themselves.
Over half of the nurse's and techs didn't care how we felt- they were just there to get hours on their check- the one's that did care were amazing-the other 2/3rds were rude and inconsiderate to us. They also stole… things from my "purse" (its actually a cooler bag, because I carry 1/2 frozen water bottles everywhere) that my mom was taking home, and they KNEW that from before of the intake interview (a pocket knife and 20$) -and stole all the phone chargers my roommate had packed (about 3), after going through EVERY piece of her luggage (that only THEY had access to). They have no respect for anyone or your belongings. No respect for the person bringing you in either. I went in voluntarily and they still disrespected my mom who dropped me off (my LDS mother who was just trying to help ME be okish). Because they wanted ("needed") to take my shoe laces, I told them to just take the shoes so I didn't have to relace them- i was only offered socks, so for a week thats what I had to walk in even to the cafeteria- was NEVER offered anything else, not even sandals. Flippin hospital socks for a week. I went in with the clothes on my back and wasn't offered anything to change into if I wanted a shower. There was NO human decency/ concern. If you choose to go here, you are not treated as a human being, you are treated as less than. Their "programs/classes" don't do anything but waste time also. The staff didn't help me to do anything but drug me to sleep for most of the time, then wake me up every few hours to take my vitals. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone looking for ACTUAL help. P.S. you're not allowed a bra, undershirt or underwear unless they're boxers, why?
Love the stay but nurses kept calling me a he instead of she or sir instead of ma’am and I really felt offended by it but overall no complaints
Very warm and welcoming staff. The love is visible and palpable. There were ants in the bedrooms though.
PHP/IOP.... They only have one good therapist, an actual licensed, LCSW. They are down to using only two rooms and every other "therapist" is an unlicensed intern and frankly theey appear to new to really do amy good.… They have way to many patients for their current staffing. I went several years ago and they had 4 rooms open 3 in one building and the other right across in a different building. They had numerous therapists who actually made a difference. J*♡ the one licensed LCSW is AMAZING. It is nearly impossible to get into his class. Its full before the busses even arrive. I wish Intermountain was doing better however as its not in great shape at the moment I withdrew and sought other counsel. I sure hope they turn things around. It used to be a really great place that truly helped people change.
If I could give you a 0 I would every time I go to get something done I have to pay. For some reason my insurance doesn't cover it or I have to have something else done before I can get what I need done. Every time even… after I got onto Medicare w/supplemental insurance. The people there are rude when you question them on why. They don't need my services anymore.
So it's been over 7 years since I quit drinking alcohol. It was the worst addiction and problem I faced and my family and friends knew I needed help. I've been here a few times,it wasn't till I wanted to quit totally… and get help here. This place saved my life. It's not a vacation, it's very strict for the patient and staff. My program was New Start and thank God I came here. When you're completely read to quit drugs and alcohol, please come here and give the program a chance. It isn't easy but with God and this place, you can really beat any addiction. I don't know if Tiffany and her mother Carla still work here, but special thanks to them. They always kept it real with me and I'm so thankful for their help💯
Nice place but my knee is bone on bone made hard to do all the walking. Went again, they where very nice. It's a easy place to comedown
Absolutely horrible expirence. Not a place for help. My daughter went in and came out worse off. Thank you to all the crooked staff that took advantage of her inability to advocate for herself. Im further researching… everything that went on during her stay. Folks be careful DO NOT leave your loved ones behind here because what you get back may never be the same again....... Reach out to you for what???This facilities issues are beyond anything I've ever seen. Regardless of your reviews its clear changes are NOT made. Repeated issues amongst different people. Maybe Mr. OWNER should start cracking down and fix the only resources our adolescents have. This system is beyond broken. Im crawling out of my skin how my daughter was treated. Yes she's a minor and I am MOM!!!!!!!
This was the the best admin ever staff was 5 stars, non judgmental and this was my fourth time with my addiction, I can’t say enough about experience McKinsey and Kerri’s, it was topnotch, made friends and will make… after care easier to handle after on the outside, got the care I needed and support I needed , had a blast with all the group meetings, top notch program, keep up the program, I really needed this, thank you Steven
Incredible staff who give their all to make sure you are well looked after in all facets. There are too many things to cover, but everything from top to bottom that you need and require. And better yet, the food offered… is excellent. I would suggest and recommend that if anyone is need of assistance, please reach out.
The staff are compassionate and professional.....definitely a resourse to look into if needed......
My niece was here for a few weeks and the staff were very friendly, especially Jenny at the desk. She made visiting smooth and easy. I appreciate all the safety precautions everyone has to go through to protect… everyone. My niece got the help she needed and is doing much better, thank you!!
The staff is amazing and very caring, it made what I was going through much easier.
I felt warm and safe in this place. They are professionals and know what they doing. They right away pointed the issues that I have and delt with it. They made sure my situation is set before they released me. I do… recommend to families and friends.
Be careful going here because if you voluntarily admit yourself they turn it to involuntary and refuse to let you leave..they dont tell you that because they know you wont go in if they do... its higly unethical and… feels fraudulent so they can make money off people.. They also dont count weekends or holidays as their hold so they can keep you longer and make more money. Trying desperately to get my son out and they refuse to let him come home even though he is not a danger to himself or anyone. They just make it more difficult and stressful so they can keep you!!! No one helps, they dont really care about helping.... if they did they wouldn't keep people in who dont need to be there. This is not for everyone and is only causing more harm!
The staff is there to care. I like Intermountain Hospital, because I believe they're there for anyone whenever they're ready to ask for help.
