Absolutely frustrating, counselors DO NOT UNDERSTAND ENGLISH LANGUAGE and many times aren't prompt with clients needs.must improve.
Been going here 3 years and I must say it’s but a real helping tool!
Excellent staff🤌🏿🤞🏿🙏🏾💪🏿
I'm in the Hispanic group and it has helped me a lot with anxiety and depression, and the secretaries help by giving information and guidance in any way they can.
Bad experience. Leaving a Google review because the front desk refuses to give me the information to make a complaint. I’ve been a patient for over 1 year. It’s very difficult to get ahold of anyone at front desk on… average, let alone get a call back. Dolly at the front desk is rude: she interrupts every few words and talks over me. All of my appointments have been scheduled without my input and the only reminder is a call the day prior. My visit frequency is 1x every 8 weeks: the front desk continued scheduled me monthly and Dr. Desry never noticed either, until at my last appt in November she said “we’ll speak in 2 months!” I asked her if I’m supposed to be seen bimonthly, why am I being seen monthly? My provider Dr. Desry assured me that I could coordinate my appts by email. When I left a voicemail today requesting an email, I got a call back. Dolly told me “I don’t do email.” So I’m unsure who to believe. Can’t reliably get a refill for my prescription so I often go without, as I am now. Psychiatric support shouldn’t be this tenuous, inconsistent, and disorganized. If I had the time to search for and could find another provider, I’d have left the practice long ago.
I loved this place, a lot I made lots of friends here who I still talk to this day this place made me feel understood in many ways the world couldn't, I was on the second floor with the teenagers and I loved it.
No one answers the phone at the reception desk. No one ever calls you back. Therapist miss appointments then blame the clients. Its terrible
This has happened so many times that I finally felt compelled to write: Arbour Counseling Reception Desk staff need to learn basic phone skills such as waiting for a person to answer the phone with, "hello?" before… rattling off ten sentences that nobody heard because the phone hadn't even fully connected yet, waiting for a person to complete a sentence before mumbling something incoherent and impatient while connecting the person to the wrong phone number, treating people like humans instead of a nuisance. Jeez! You'd think a therapist office would demand people skills from their staff! Nothing more annoying than front-facing staff who hate their jobs! I can't imagine what they must be like to patients with more severe issues! The therapists and psychiatrists, however, are great! Top notch! Have a nice day! :)
Updating with photos and more detailed review. Stellar experience with therapists and counselors here. It cracked me up reflecting on the day program when in tenuous whether "to take the hook" the group leader told us… to be aware of. Arbor Counseling is my favorite behavioral health provider in America in terms of counseling and quality of counselors. I have to continue writing this review when I have more time. I am in a situation now and I am thinking about whether to 'take the hook'. Should I or should I not. Probably going to take the hook.
There’s this doctor here that yelled at me for not “having one issue to focus on” and she forced me to get a prescription. She traumatized me and forced me to take adderall when I told I didn’t want to be medicated. She… didn’t care and yelled at me.
The medicine really helps thanks dr.v I'm a now over 15 year patient going thur father hood has changed my life I'm going to think about the holidays damn I miss grandma
Phenomenal, all clinicians, and it's unique because several rotate in bringing their various expertise with them, and all clinicians that were there when I was were PHENOMENAL, professional, caring, full on engaged in… their skills and very most absolutely very considerate towards everyone in the groups I was in.
From desk staff and very slow in your in the drug treatment your fine but pyclogst never in biuding
as an care coordinator, this facility esp intake are all unprofessional ! they kept on hanging up and they are very rude in call esp. the intake specialist name LYADRA . she is so unproffesional and has an attitude. and… this fac. HRI and Harbour hospital is the worst and very unproffessional fac. esp. those 2 intake people
i have been through quite a few programs similar to this and i highly recommend their services for those struggling with substance abuse and/or anxiety and depression. the staff is great and very supportive.
Great after care and staff were very helpful and attentive Thanks to Heather. Amanda Alexia
My experience with Arbour's Partial Hospitalization Program was exceptional, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone seeking a step-down alternative to inpatient psychiatric treatment. I found the staff (Emily,… Haley, Judy, Melissa, & Yon) to be incredibly kind, considerate, and supportive each and every day, and I'm forever grateful for their sagacious counsel and thoughtful group discussions. They also offer weekly evening Zoom meetings for both PHP alumni and DBT with Emily.
Would give 0 stars if I could. Arbour Counseling Services is not helpful, only hurtful. My sister, who has struggled with severe social anxiety, depression, and substance abuse since her teens, finally decided for the… first time in her life to seek out help. She got into Arbour Counseling Service’s day program in Jamaica Plain, and was so optimistic. She was excited to be getting better, was proud of herself for putting in the work, and was improving every day. That was until Arbour Counseling Services kicked her out because they said she was “sniffing drugs” in the restroom. They said they knew she was because she went to the restroom often. They also know that she has severe social anxiety, and she would bring herself to the restroom when she was feeling overwhelmed to calm herself down, not to “sniff drugs”. Also, Arbour Counseling Services would know she is not “sniffing drugs” because they drug test her twice a week and the only thing she ever tested positive for was marijuana, which is legal in Massachusetts. Arbour Counseling Services took a woman who was struggling, and instead of helping, they humiliated, judged, and shamed her. I know that my sister is strong and committed, and she will continue to get better without the help of Arbour Counseling Services. However, Arbour Counseling Services should be ashamed of themselves. It my sister had relapsed and gotten back on drugs, that would be on you, Arbour Counseling Services. If she had killed herself because the one time she sought help she was turned away, that would be on you, Arbour Counseling Services. If you are looking for kind, understanding, and helpful (not hurtful) people, do not go to Arbour Counseling Services in Jamaica Plain.
I definitely would recommend it here I see Dr Scott he's a great therapist I've actually had another therapist here a few years ago and they were pretty good too.
Iv successfully been in outpatient suboxone therapy for 12- going on 13years and it’s truly changed my life and I would not be where I am , happy with the normal things I thought I’d never have or be as a person and I… and if I couldn’t go to the groups and one on one with my doctor and councilor who are truly amazing and actually care for the paitients that truly want to get clean.. and then work on changing themselfs ...really wanted to credit the program and dr s & councilors in arbour bcus every day they deal with people who are broken and sick and prob not pleasant and that could not be easy and takes special type of patients so thank you to all of arbors ,doctors ,counselors & psychiatrists n theripiest there.. especially Dr. Migeed...Brian & Vanessa I wouldnt be where I am without you all to help my grow over the many years so thanks😊😄
This facility offers good treatment programs and inexperienced but still good providers but the front desk staff is so rude. It takes over 20 minutes then when they answer they say hello once and hang up
I visited the partial hospitalization program, and this place was disgusting: dirty bathrooms, stained carpets that haven't been cleaned in ages (or ever?), dated decor, small space. They kept us in one room from 9 am… to 3 pm, all just lectures and group talk, no group activities, no team building, no mental stimulation, nothing. The poor excuse of a lunch they provided was unhealthy, packaged food loaded with carbs and sodium. By far, the worst thing about this facility was the staff. There is no doctor on staff, just a nurse. Except for one staff member, Rebecca who was really sweet, all the rest of the staff were dismissive of us and cut us off, even when they asked for our input. One client was feeling particularly anxious, and when another client gave him a consensual touch and offered to file his nails to help him relax, the staff member exploded and claimed that if he did his nails, he would have to do everybody's nails. When the class said that isn't true, she said if we didn't like it, we could go somewhere else. No mental health practitioner should lose her cool like that. After that incident, several of us decided to never come back.
Been client with them many years..if your serious about your well being ..then don't matter if people who work there are rude or nice..you make it happen for you..mosy are a plus peeps
Had an appointment with my therapist today, afterward I wanted to schedule an appointment to see another doctor. I say to the receptionist whom I want to see, as another ignorant employee continues to have a full blown… conversation with the receptionist. Who should have had the professionalism to say I have to take care of this person waiting to make an appointment. Very simple minded, arrogant, with not one ounce of compassion! This will never happen to me again I swear.
Psychiatrists and therapists are great but the staff that handles the phone calls for information, appointments, intakes, operator, etc NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE!!!
Very convenient and helpful staff work there.
