I came to Rainbow Hill feeling like I needed a big change in my life and RH came through. Staff were very welcoming, supportive, challenging (in the right way) understanding , & truly life savers. I came in a shell of… myself and left vibrant and feeling my oats. Being a black gay man I was a bit nervous if I would be fully seen and understood and I can humbly say, that I was. Other clients were amazing and I feel like I left with a bigger sense of love and family. Thank you RH
So when I came to Rainbow Hill back in February/March of 2026, I had come feeling so deflated from suffering and dealing with a severe OD that almost cost me my life. They welcomed me with open arms and open hearts and… worked with me with all of my baggage and were/are a huge pillar of support in my recovery/mental health journey. The staff, the directors, the clients, everything felt like home with the community that we built together, the bonds we shared, the love and compassion that flourished all throughout my stay there. I am forever grateful for Rainbow Hill and all that they helped me through. The groups were both educational and personal, the case manager was on point and fought extremely hard for me when needed be (the best of divas) while also being a gentle push for me to take care of what I needed to on my own part, and the directors are phenomenal people who are there for me even to this day. Between the flexibility, the understanding, the patience, the passion and compassion, if you're looking for a place to be yourself, while bettering yourself, this is 💯 % the place to go. I love this place so much.
Rainbow Hill Recovery and Sober Living was one of the best experiences of my recovery journey. They truly care and truly are on top of their game.I learned so much in the groups.I learned why I do things I do as a addict… and sober.I learned how to navigate with my sobriety and tools I use in everyday life.Joey and Hubby are truly the best in the industry.I am grateful that I completed program and I take what I learned everywhere I go.The sober living was very clean and ran like a finely tuned machine. These guys know what their doing for sure!
I am leaving a five star review out of fear of retaliation. They may hypothetically have a rat infestation at their sober living. As the owners say over and over "Rainbow Hill Recovery and Rainbow Hill Sober Living are… separate entities." They have the same owners (Joey and Andrew) so I am confused as to why they keep saying that. It's a slogan they use to avoid accountability for the atrocious housing conditions. But overall, the PHP was a good experience. The house- "a separate entity"- is falling apart including what could hypothetically be perceived as a health hazard that is rodent related (a rat infestation by definition). But the PHP had great groups with topics like queer joy, distress tolerance, etc. While I enjoyed the PHP program, I ended up transferring to do a different IOP. I also left their "separate entity" Rainbow Hill Sober Living. They do not provide transportation for IOP from the "separate entity" Rainbow Hill Sober Living (Joey and Andrew own Rainbow Hill Sober Living and Rainbow Hill Recovery, but are obsessed with calling them "separate entities."). While PHP groups were good, definitely make sure to advocate for yourself while there and keep tabs on when you will move on to IOP. Call your insurance to verify when PHP ends so they don't keep extending it to get more insurance money. Also, expect the owners to continue to say the sober living (Rainbow Hill Sober Living) and programming (Rainbow Hill Recovery) are "separate entities," a catch phrase they use to avoid accountability for the horrific conditions at the sober living they own (Rainbow Hill Sober Living). They own both but call them "separate entities" repeatedly. I left a five star review of their sober living (which hypothetically has a rat infestation) out of fear of retaliation. And I'll leave a five star one here for the same reason. In addition, if you decide to potentially go elsewhere for programming and/or housing, know that the LGBTQIA+ affirming recovery house and program owners all know each other. For example, No Matter What Recovery called the owners of Rainbow Hill Sober Living and Rainbow Hill Recovery (the same couple) when I expressed interest in doing IOP with No Matter What instead of Rainbow Hill Recovery. Steven, the case manager, confirmed that No Matter Recovery did in fact call the owners of Rainbow Hill Recovery when I asked about their program. Steven said it openly in my discharge meeting. Also, one of the owners of Rainbow Hill Recovery attempted to intimidate me and failed miserably. Rather than "warning" clients that if they "were to cause problems that we all talk" consider how that might drive a client to leave entirely. The minute I got that "warning" I decided they no longer would receive my insurance or rent money. That owner made a big mistake talking to a USC alum from Pasadena that way. It was a little hilarious that he would speak to someone like that who is well-connected, a revered journalist with readers on 6 continents, etc. If the owners want people to stay don't attempt to intimidate them. I will give them a high rating because the facilitators and clinical director were great, but also because I fear retaliation. Dealing with the owners was somewhat comical and I know they will never forget me, my self-advocacy, and the reminder that you don't try to intimidate or "warn" someone who is educated and knows their shit. They were not used to having clients who were highly educated. Even though the owners did questionable things, I made life-long friends. I already have plans to see them again even though I just left Rainbow Hill Recovery's programming and Rainbow Hill Sober Living ("separate entities"). I will never forget Rainbow Hill Recovery and Rainbow Hill Sober Living I mean Joey and Andrew's "separate entities." And I sure as hell know they will never forget me.
I can’t even begin to explain how much being at rainbow hill changed my life for the better. Joey and Andrew (owners) are some of the most understanding, kind, and generous people I have ever met. They do so much for us… that goes unnoticed so publicly I am saying the biggest thank you for everything. When I got to rainbow hill I was a mess, I was scared of my insurance kicking me out, everything was new and I did not know anyone. Every one of the staff members that I met were so kind and patient with me. I was so combative to treatment at first. I didn’t think anything was going to work. But they believe in me when I couldn’t and I am beyond grateful for that. I am in such a better place than I was when I got here. I am actually excited for the future and I know it’s going to be hard but I know I can get through it and being at rainbow hill is the biggest reason for that. I have never been more grateful to have ended up here. I am happy again. Thank you so much for everything.
Not only does Joey go out of his way, he is a heart and mind warrior fighter for all of those of us in need! He will always follow up as well! He smiles and he works in such perfect flow! Of hope!
The best, I feel so safe and seen here 🙏🏼❤️
This place is amazing and so supportive. I've been to other LGBT places but this place takes the cake in my opinion. Especially as a black transgender woman. Not once was i told that was "difficult" and I have been… encouraged to express myself culturally and they even have culturally competency training not only staff but also for clients. I would highly recommend this facility.
My visit and tour with Rory Slikker were truly impactful. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I felt a deep sense of safety and warmth. The environment is so incredibly comfortable, but it was the program… itself that moved me most—it hit home emotionally in a way I didn't expect. It is such a comfort to know a place like this exists. I walked away feeling inspired, with a lasting sense of belonging in a community that holds a special place in my heart. Thank you, Rory & Rainbow Hill Recovery! Sincerely, Glenn
I cannot say ENOUGH about Rainbow Hill Recovery and the incredible people who run it and work there. We had to act suddenly to support someone we cared for and were at a loss when it came to locating a facility that… supported the issues specific to people in the LGBTQ+ community - not to mention a solid, comprehensive program tha helps people struggling with mental health (or substance abuse). They ALWAYS put the patients first. Rainbow Hill not only went out of their way to inform us and make us feel comfortable, but their consistent communication, their variety of courses, and the caring each person puts into every day they work there made all the difference. Our loved one is thriving and we feel like she found a second home at Rainbow Hill Recovery. We were so blessed to have come across them and we only hope this review will help others find the same support in their own time of need.
The program is not sophisticated but it is a safe environment and generally well intended people
Words cannot contain how thankful I feel to have the opportunity to come to Rainbowhill but I will do my best. The owners and staff are what sets this place apart from the rest. Upon entering the program you are met… with compassion, empathy and understanding unmatched in the industry. I not only found myself here but I also founds friends, a community but most importantly a sense of belonging. Thanks to the support and guidance of the program, I can finally say that I feel like I stand a chance in success with my mental health and sobriety. If your reading this review looking for an lgbtq+ friendly place to get sober or your life back on track. Please make the call. This place is more then a program its a family. Triumphant Together
Rainbow-hill has gone far and beyond to help me and those alike. I’ve experienced nothing short of pure kindness, openness, and care from the support staff over at Rainbow-hill. I’m so grateful to be apart of the alumni… family and have the aftercare support as well. The best part was that I could walk in as myself; and this made my treatment easier to work through. The team held my hand throughout the entire process but also made sure I had the tools to deal with life more effectively.
I came from the street, had no one, no family no friends nothing. My addiction had me in its grip and my mental state and health had me in a prison of my own. Until… until I came to rainbow hill. not only was it the… most welcoming place, but a safe place. As a women of trans experience it’s important to have these things. I was welcomed with open arms, and through their program I learned not only how to stay sober but to love myself unconditionally. The staff and the leaders are phenomenal at their job and feel sad parting with them, but one thing is for-sure is that I’ve made friends for life and the best choice for my future and that was all because of rainbow hill recovery
Great experience it works if you work it!
I really enjoyed my time at rainbow hill recovery, really grateful for having the opportunity to know this place where welcomed me as I am . Really recommend for those who are real in need of support in your journey and… willing to take healing forward . All I have to say is worth because it’s always good to have a place like this where you feel at home and especially you can be your true self as well feel safe . :)
I sent a loved one to Rainbow Hill Recovery and it was a life changing experience. Their staff looks at tall areas of the individuals life and addresses all issues to make them the best version of themselves. ai… couldn't say enough good things about Rainbow Hill.
Rainbow Hill is an amazing program. The entire team went above and beyond for me and my recovery. The sober living is comfortable very cute very inclusive and in a wonderful location for anyone looking for a vibrant… neighborhood. The integrative care approach at Rainbow Hill focused not only on my 12-step recovery but also delved deep into my therapy needs, my community needs, and my spirituality. I am forever in debt to my time and the amazing gifts of recovery that Rainbow Hill provided for me. Thank You!!!
It is apparent that the owners, administrators and staff at Rainbow Hill truly care about their clients. I have had an exceptional experience attending the Intensive Outpatient Program from in-depth group sessions like… Mindfulness, Relapse Prevention, and Shame and Resiliency to insightful individual therapy catered to my needs in recovery and beyond. The care I’ve received has become a cornerstone for my sobriety and mental health. I feel heard and understood at Rainbow Hill, a place where I can be myself and have garnered tools to reach my full potential. I cannot recommend them enough.
I would highly recommend Rainbow Hill Recovery. The level of care, thoroughness & clinical care have been outstanding. In addition to the excellent clinical care is the commitment from the staff and proprietors Joey &… Andrew to the wellbeing of the clients & their families. Their compassionate approach sets them apart. Their transparency & consistent communication is the excellent. Rainbow Hill Recovery is a light in the darkness of addiction.
I was highly disappointed in her services as she wouldn't listen to what I was saying in regards to my medical problems simply referred me to a hospital then has not returned one of the 5 voicemails I've left regarding… med refills since I have not been able to find a new care provider.
I attended this outpatient program for 4 months and could not recommend it enough. The space itself is beautiful, and the level of care in unmatched. The therapist is kind, experienced and insightful, and the case… manager is resourceful, advocatory, and caring. We went on amazing field trips, processed challenging feelings successfully in groups and individual sessions, and learned crucial life and coping skills. This is the place that helped me put the pieces of my mind and my life back together, and gave me my confidence back. I am so so grateful to have had the opportunity to be in this program.
