Its commercial plans and MassHealth ACO plans can include coverage for drug and alcohol treatment, with benefits varying by plan, network and level of care. Why Trust RehabSeekers.com?

RehabSeekers is an independent behavioral health directory covering drug and alcohol addiction and mental health treatment providers.

Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Common questions

Answered from what is listed here.

Does Mass General Brigham Health Plan cover rehab?

Yes, substance use treatment is a covered benefit, with outpatient services, day programs, residential programs and recovery services managed by Optum behavioral health. What you pay and which rules apply depend on whether you hold a commercial, Health Connector, Medicare Advantage, MassHealth ACO or dual-eligible plan.

Commercial and Health Connector members can ask about a specific level of care by calling member customer service at 866-414-5533 (TTY 711).

Residential Rehabhttps://rehabseekers.com/programs/residential/
Does Mass General Brigham Health Plan cover detox?

Yes. The 2026 Select HMO $0 schedule of benefits lists inpatient substance use detoxification and rehabilitation with no member cost sharing, and Optum's rules for the plan cover acute substance use treatment at ASAM levels 4.0 and 3.7 for commercial, Health Connector and MassHealth ACO members.

No prior authorization is needed to start acute detox; the facility notifies Optum within 48 hours and authorization review begins on day 15.

Detox Centershttps://rehabseekers.com/programs/detox-centers/
Does Mass General Brigham Health Plan cover residential rehab?

Yes, residential substance use treatment at ASAM level 3.5 is covered for commercial, Health Connector and MassHealth ACO members under Optum's rules, with no prior authorization required at admission. Residential Rehabilitation Services, a separate MassHealth benefit, are listed for Mass General Brigham ACO members only.

For Residential Rehabilitation Services, the program notifies Optum within 7 calendar days and no authorization applies for the first 90 days.

Mass General Brigham Health Plan is the not-for-profit Massachusetts insurer owned by the Mass General Brigham hospital system, selling commercial, Health Connector, Medicare Advantage, MassHealth ACO and dual-eligible coverage. For anyone arranging addiction treatment, the detail that decides most of the process is that the plan does not run its own behavioral health benefit. Optum does, including utilization management, authorizations, provider contracting and claims.

The name on the card may not match the name on the website. AllWays Health Partners became Mass General Brigham Health Plan effective January 1, 2023, announced on November 4, 2022, and before that the company traded as Neighborhood Health Plan, which Partners HealthCare acquired in 2011. The Medicaid line was once branded My Care Family. An older card or an out-of-date directory entry showing one of those names is describing the same insurer.

This guide covers which levels of substance use care the plan pays for, where prior authorization applies and where a notification call is enough, what the 2026 copays and deductibles look like across the main products, how medication is handled through Optum Rx, and how to find a Massachusetts program that holds the right contract.
