Porter Starke Services Inc – Portage is recorded as offering intensive outpatient and outpatient care. Sessions follow a set timetable while people keep living at home. A proper assessment sets the level rather than leaving it to guesswork, and it is worth asking for one explicitly.

Porter Starke Services Inc – Portage Address, Location and Contact Information
The facility address is 3176 Lancer Street, Portage, Indiana, 46368. Portage sits in Porter County. People travel in from the surrounding area, and confirming the route beforehand saves difficulty. Journey time and parking are not trivial details when treatment runs several times a week over months.
A quick call before you go will settle directions, parking and what to expect first time. Remote appointments may be possible where travel is a barrier. Reception hours vary, so a call that goes unanswered once is worth repeating rather than treating as a dead end.

Cancel my apt no reason. There said call me 1 week before (is not) and there cancel the apt. I do a appointment in agust for oct 31 . Un oct call me the clinic for rescheduled because the doctor is not available that… day. Now for December. Ok 2 more months. Call me again for rescheduled because doct going to vacations ja now need wait another months for January. Really i don't stand ... i no started and no liked.
Absolute waste of my time. My husband and I have custody of my stepdaughter, I have never once in my life with her had issues bringing her to a doctor or appointment and signing off on her paperwork. I am her legal… guardian, and it literally says on the paperwork "Parent/Legal Guardian" Waited 2 months for this appointment and my daughter desperately needs to see a therapist and I had to cancel the appointment because my husband works full-time, and I am a stay-at-home mother and am the only one that is able to take her to her appointments. The receptionist told me because I am not her biological mother I cannot sign off on her paperwork. I can absolutely see why this place has the reviews that they do. Canceled the appointment and we will not be back. Off on the adventure to try and find my daughter a therapist again, and probably will have to wait another two months. Thanks for absolutely nothing.
I’m changing over my regular family Dr after my next appointment to let them know they will never have my business again. I ran out of refills and they’ve sent over 2 request from the pharmacy and they have yet to… approve it. If you only see me as a paycheck that’s fine but we’re taking our health care somewhere else that has reliable healthcare.
Stuck waiting at the mercy of the front desk to approve my med refill. Currently going on week 5 of no answer/approval. I’d literally recommend anywhere BUT here.
My whole Porter Stark experience was horrible except one lady there her name was Kristy Steiner She is an amazing person. She went above and beyond to help me, but I feel the rest of Porter Stark just sees me as a… paycheck. She seen me as a person.
Probably one of the best doctor I’ve seen!! Everyone was soo sweet and very welcoming! Dr.belinda is top notch!! Never felt so comfortable or heard until today !! Thank you !!
Good place I also recommend sawson center
My daughter passed away and I became extremely depressed. I currently see Dr.Gupta he has helped me tremendously! I'm still going through grief but atleast I feel like there is hope for better days ahead . Great nursing… staff and the receptionist does a good job. I would definitely recommend making a appointment.
Dr Gupta has helped us keep our disabled bi-polar stay in our home. He has changed our family's life. We are forever greatful. All the nurses have been nothing but helpful through the years. Front desk staff is friendly… and helpful
I completely understand why this facility gets so many bad reviews. The manager, Nakisha Hughes, is extremely rude. She was screaming on the phone with my husband because he called in and informed them that he had 50-50… custody of his daughter and he did not want his Seven-year-old daughter being seen by a male therapist. Instead of being understanding and offering a solution, She yelled him on the phone stating “Well I don’t know who you are” and demanding that he brought in his court papers. We politely asked her what paperwork did her mother have to show to prove that she is allowed to make all the decisions?.. she hung up on us after that. I understand if you need more evidence, but to yell at him on the phone was insane. We were both in shock. This place has absolutely no professionalism or organization. No one had any answers and they just passed us around from person to person.
This place is horrible. The staff does not answer phones, I called multiple times within an hour before my appointment just to confirm location and could not get ahold of anyone. Once I went in there's 3 people at the… desk none on the phone and they were very rude. Especially the old one. I don't know how they have business. I originally went here to find a psychiatrist that takes my insurance. I got an appointment for several months ahead and was waiting. I then get a call a week before just to say their psychiatrist abruptly quit, that they could no longer help with that as they do not have one any longer. Could not set me up with a proper Therapist. Could not personally meet my needs. Not to mention when I did make an appointment with somebody else (I truly don't even know what type of doctor it was) I was in the lobby waiting TWICE for over 30 minutes. Absolutely ridiculous. If you have other options I would choose them, anyone else.
Tonight I made the decision to not go back again. My therapist was absolutely wonderful and honestly should look for a better job. I was there because a have an anxiety disorder and panic disorder. I informed my doctor… that I'm a recovering alcoholic and 2 years sober. I started telling him about my conditions and his reaction was "oh, I won't treat you for that ".... wow.
I’ve been going to Porter Starke since I was a small child and I’m about to be 33. There has not been one person ever in existence that worked there that I was impressed with from the doctors to the receptionists until… the last couple years. And I won’t even lie I’m kind of a “difficult” person to deal with. Shyleena with case management there is an absolute saint of a woman. She may be a youngin but I know for a fact nobody does or ever will do that job better than her. And Amber the therapist there has changed me in ways I thought were unimaginable. She has helped me heal from things I never spoke about they hurt so bad, but she made me feel so comfortable and safe that it was almost easy. She has not only helped me to become a better human but also a better mother. Such a better mother that my 13 year old (definitely the “naughty” one out of the 2) told me my green flags were respect and communication. Helping me break generational curses and I’m so happy!! Also, there’s a girl who is a receptionist there that I spoke with today and she’s the best one they’ve had in all the years I’ve been going there and I wish I would have asked her her name. But shout out to her for going above and beyond!! And lastly, Micah the psychiatrist who is actually in the Valparaiso location so I’ll leave his review there so people know!! Hope corporate sees this and does something more than say “oh great you got a review that actually made our company look good” for these amazing people who go above and beyond what is asked of them and genuinely do a job because they love and care and support. Those 4 people are the ones who should be getting promotions and raises and be in charge of training everyone. Bet these ratings here would go up.
My therapist is absolutely fantastic, but I got better insurance than state insurance and apparently none of them take the better insurance, So for me to speak to my therapist, I would have to pay out of pocket and get… no discount even though I just went through the most traumatic experience of my life. I'm absolutely disgusted that the mental health, or health care system in this country is so broken that they can't offer some sort of rectification. But instead they were trying to transfer me to a different therapist that takes my insurance and I've been with my therapist for almost 2 years, why on earth would I want to start over? Absolutely disgusted.
I was, until recently, a patient of Porter Starke Portage. I was informed that my status had been downgraded to "inactive" because I did not meet with my physician for a year. However, I had an active prescription… during that time, and I was never called or emailed to inform me of the policy. At no point during the year did I receive a call or an email to schedule an appointment. Now, I find myself unexpectedly without access to my medication. This is unacceptable, and I am wholly upset by the lack of professionalism I have experienced in the care of Porter Starke Portage. For an organization that claims to want to support the mental health of its patients, Porter Starke Portage seems largely indifferent to the day-to-day lives and obstacles of its patients. At best, this is asinine business practice. At worst, this is active negligence. Porter Starke Portage has not met my expectations for care, and—worse—they have worsened the very mental health condition I sought help for. I was a fairly happy patient of Porter Starke Portage until yesterday. Now, unless this situation is remedied, I plan to inform all of my friends, family members, co-workers, and receptive acquaintances online and in person to avoid Porter Starke Portage. As a public high school teacher and a Mental Health Club sponsor, I cannot, at this moment, recommend a mental health service that so clearly undervalues the nuances and details of mental health care. I understand that details get lost in the sauce sometimes. That said, I would hope that an organization that deals with mental health would make active communication a bigger priority. You have a responsibility to your patients who, by definition, are perhaps not at their best mentally.
I like this place the people are so very nice and polite
I have been through multiple counselors programs and doctors and they have always been amazing, only one doc I didn't exactly love but she was ok . Otherwise everyone is great especially Andrea, she is the best person I… have ever delt with, she listens never judges and is always understanding when it comes to anything life throws our way. She genuinely cares and does her job to the best of her ability and it shows. I have no complaints with her at all. They are extremely busy as a whole so regardless who or what your going for it's a bit of a wait for appointments, that's the only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. But between Andrea and her nurses and even the girls at the front desk to the pharmacist, they do anything and everything they can to accommodate your needs, to me it's worth the wait and they are on it anyway even if u can't get in for an appointment right away they actually care about you and its obvious they do! I'm so happy to have Andrea and her team on my side ! Thanks for being awesome !
A family member of mine recently stayed in their inpatient facility. As a mental health professional myself, I know that the system has its imperfections but I have never witnessed abuse from a health professional like… I did at this facility while visiting my relative. Dr. Verma is dangerous and should have her license revoked. It truly broke my heart to witness how these individuals were treated. It seemed as though staff members followed her lead and treated patients the same as she.
The doctor tried to eat me out I ran away to Europe and same doctor was there
This office is HORRIBLE! For 2 months now my husband and I have been promised we would be a returned phone call for investigation for misdiagnosis and not properly diagnosing my child . Allowing whoever and whatever to… bring in my son while his other parent in for treatment. Allowing his therapist to tell a minor child “do not tell your mom the medication “ medications are not even coming home correctly . We have called and called and called . The therapist when the school and my son had report some serious issues did not follow protocol with state reporting . They never return a phone call especially when it is a legal parent ! My son has needed his medication up for 2 months now and his other parental refuses to have it up or give the medication properly and the staff is doing nothing about it or reporting or involving my husband and I . They just keep avoiding . We were promised a 10000 times Sandy Carlson would be in contact with us and has never once returned a phone call or nothing . This office needs to be turned in and shut down ! For not following protocol or their staff
We’ll look at that. A year later and same issues with this office. Best recommendation I have for anyone looking to use this place, look else where. You will regret picking this place. Except Dr. Mary, she is amazing.… Other than that you will go through hell here. My oldest is on her 3rd therapist in less than a year. A testing appointment we’ve waited since November for just got rescheduled for the 2nd time. An hour before our appointment! Just keep looking. Staff at the reception desk is horrible. 1st appointment was told both parents could be in the room. Get there and nope we can’t have both parents. 2nd appointment, follow up 3 months later. Get there and they tell us my appointment is until the 19th. I said there’s no way because I have an appointment the 19th that I could not reschedule so I would never of made it for that day. Now we will end up waiting another 2-3 months for an appointment. Completely unacceptable.
My boyfriend had a psychiatrist appointment today and it was the biggest waste of time. TLDR, Dr O'shea didn't listen my boyfriend when he informed her of his medical and prescription history and instead of giving him… the medication he needed and asked for, prescribed him a new anti-depressant and a medication he told her didn't work for him. My boyfriend and I recently relocated here from Colorado. When we relocated, my boyfriend needed to get his prescriptions refilled so he attempted to make an appointment at Porter Starke, however, they were booked 3 months in advance so he scheduled the appointment anyway but also found a virtual psychiatrist that would be able to see him immediately. Due to the virtual nature, they aren't able to prescribe controlled substances, like xannax. My boyfriend has been taking xannax for the past 5-ish years as needed. He has no history of abuse and has never had problems with being prescribed this medication before. He was able to get his other prescriptions in order but needed an in-person appointment in order to receive a new prescription for xannax. When he arrived, he informed Dr O'shea of his medical and prescription history and let her know that his virtual psychiatrist had already recommended that he receive xannax but because he is virtual, he couldn't actually provide the prescription. Dr O'shea told him that he should take Hydroxyzine instead. He told her that he had taken that medication before but it doesn't work for him for a variety of reasons. She prescribed it to him anyway regardless of that fact that he told her that it doesn't work and isn't what he needs. Additionally, He told Dr O'Shea that his virtual psychiatrist had changed his anti-depressants within the past two months and had also upped his dose of the new meds within the past two weeks, and was waiting for the updated effects of the dosage to kick in. Dr. O'Shea prescribed him a new anti-depressant even though he didn't ask for one nor need one, and was still in the process of adjusting to new medication dosages. We waited 3 months for this Dr. to not listen to anything that he said about his medication history and preferences and then prescribe him medications that he didn't need nor want.
My visit went well, but they get a 1 star because they sell your contact information without disclosure. You WILL get spam calls after you write down your number a dozen different times on the required paperwork.
They suggested that their patients fill their prescriptions at meijer pharmacy, but meijer pharmacy are always out of their medications, stating 🙄 supply problems from the manufacturer. Not so,! the supply problem are… from their own distribution system and that's where Porter Stark get their medication from and that why they are always out of stock 😒 also, I recommend switching to CVS Pharmacy.
I come here more medication nothing else. This place is more harm than good stay away from this place it would be in your best interest
