Avenues Recovery Center – Fort Collins Reviews and Ratings
Personal accounts of Avenues Recovery Center sit in this section. Patterns across several reviews, such as repeated comments about communication or waiting times, are a better guide than any single account.
My experience here was absolutely wonderful. Essentially so allowed me to never want to Joos ever again. The staff was great and I felt safe.
Clean facility. BHTS are Great. Great Nursing always friendly and incredibly helpful. Amazing Alumni Program. Heather is a Amazing and wonderful Alumni Coordinator, Absolutely the Best.
Good staff! Shout out tommy! Food could use some variety and the communication could use some work.........other than that great place
Over all I am so glad that I came here. I met a bunch of peers and staff that have been so loving and supportive. Yes there will be some down days but stick with it. They've really got me headed on the right path and I… am looking forward to my future with the alumni program here in Fort Collins
My overall stay at Avenues was a great experience, and I am leaving with a deep sense of gratitude. I was able to truly reconnect with who I am while being here, and I gained a lot of knowledge about recovery that I… will carry with me for the rest of my life. Staff & Support The staff made my recovery journey exceptional. Every single person was incredibly insightful, helpful, and supportive. What makes this team so effective is that many of them have personal experience with recovery themselves, bringing over 30 years of collective sobriety to the table. Their real-world understanding creates an environment of deep empathy and trust. A special thanks to Kristen, Heather, Sam, Tommy, Cody, Charlie, Robert, Venny, Zoey, Emily, Summer, Ray Ray, Kristi, Karen, Denise, Mikey, Rachel, Anna, SenaRah, and Heaven for your dedication and guidance throughout my stay! Areas for Improvement * Nutrition: The meal plans could use a more balanced diet with more fresh vegetables and fewer heavy carbohydrates. Additionally, rotating the menu options more often would help prevent the meals from feeling repetitive every other week. * Group Curriculum: The group curriculum would benefit from a review and update, as the material starts to feel repetitive after two weeks. Incorporating more practical life skills classes is essential—sobriety isn't just about quitting an addiction; it’s about completely changing your mindset and how you live your life to maintain long-term success. Final Thoughts Despite a few operational tweaks needed on meals and curriculum, I would strongly recommend Avenues to anyone I know who is struggling with addiction. The compassionate team and supportive environment provided me with the tools I needed to start a new chapter in my life.
First time In rehab I would definitely recommend this facility here in Fort Collins due to the staff they all genuinely care about my sobriety and supported me through the whole process. Thanks Avenues recovery staff.
My Experience was very wonderful I enjoyed avenues!! I came here with a plan and successfully finished it I was hopeless down on my luck and needed help and a way out and was at my lowest point in life then made that… call to change my life for the better! I would highly recommend avenues if your in a need of help to become sober and healthy and find a way out of no way they would help you if YOU are trying to put in the work to be help!!!
Really enjoyed the community here and the activities they provide. I had great roommates and everyone was very kind to me. Would recommend.
The staff here are top notch, I was a medicaid patient here in September 26 and was treated with dignity and respect. I also made more friends than I can count. Avenues Ft Collins brought out the best in me, and I will… be forever grateful 🙏.
Amazing experience with the staff. Very friendly people. Great food and friendly kitchen staff. There’s always something for you to be doing even if there is downtime.
My son was a patient at Avenues in Ft Collins. The experience was not as great as everyone else. In Avenues care my son had two seizures. The medical staff did not help him it was the other patients. The medical staff… stopped giving him his seizure medication. A staff member Charlie was very rude and argued with his father over the phone. There was a nurse Rachel that was rude and yelled at my son when he asked about his medication. When my son left the facility they did not allow him to call family. He was stuck in Ft Collins and he lives in Greeley. His phone was dead he needed to call from a business. This facility isolates your family member from communication. I would not recommend Avenues. The staff is rude and unprofessional.
During my stay here at avenues. I've had a mixed experience here. To be completely honest. Here is the short of it. Detoxing and Treatment: fantastic, I've never had a problem, although my personal level of care is very… low. So depending on your needs you'll have a different experience. Food: abysmal. It's carb heavy, pasta, bread, rice fairly often. Not the fault of staff or cooks but of corporate guidelines. Expect cafeteria food and less than satisfactory breakfast. Curriculum: you attend 4 groups a day with breaks and lunch, every day of the week. Honestly if you're willing to change and recover the classes will make you be vulnerable. And you will learn a lot about yourself and your peers. Recovery and activities: there a bunch of peer based activities and groups that you can attend. There's always an event going on every night when it comes to meetings. Or activities. The basketball hoop is always available. And you can access the library at any time. Staff: there are some honestly amazing staff here. There are those who will truly care for you and want to actively see you succeed even when you want to quit. Such as Tommie in nursing, Cody, Britney, Charlie, Zoey, Vinny, etc. but there are also a handful of staff who are downright rude. So be careful. And there are appropriate channels to handle issues. I can confidently say the staff at the top below the executives are so genuine and talented, they also have been through the ringer themselves. Housing: you will share your room with your peers, it's about standard hotel living environment. ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Advertising and client handbook: the website, and client handbook mentions you get frequent phone calls. That is ABSOLUTELY not true. You get 2 10 minute phone calls or 1 20 minute phone call a WEEK. Also, any visitors that visit MUST be on your ROI, I've seen plenty of parents be unable to see their kids because of this, and it is tragic. The website mentions a golf course and disc golf course? This is not true, there is one sad putt-putt hole. And no disc golf to be mentioned. You do not get computer Access or access to your personal phone. Unless it's for legal reasons or you need to pay bills. For some that's complete isolation to the outside world. Overall: if you're looking to put in the work, this place will help you with the resources to keep you sober. It has flaws, any rehab does. But my personal experience has been amazing, and life changing. I've met plenty of friends, cried, laughed, and learned. This is certainly a place to go. And certainly had management problems and inconsistencies. Just don't forget to pack.
Wonderful experience....made great friends and a very special few folks...groups were routine rehab...cool...accommodations and food was above satisfactory....45 days is a long time, so get acquainted the first week and… relax...let your healing begin...staff was great, and peers made my time worth while....
There’s great rehabs, there’s good rehabs, there’s bad rehabs, there’s very bad rehabs, then there’s 50 feet of shit and then there’s Avenues.
This is the most amazing treatment center. All the staff, therapists, counselor's, administrators,BHT’s,nurses, kitchen staff, maintenance, and janitors. I had such a wonderful experience here. They showed me love,… patience, and compassion. When you are in need of these components and education. I highly recommend the Avenues program and staff. Thank you Avenues. Love all of you. Big hugs.
The bhts and the sober community built here were amazing. Not all that was advertised on the site was accurate, specifically access to a “full gym” and nutritious food directed by a dietitian.
I am writing this review on my last day at Avenues at Fort Collins as a recent graduate of the program, now part of the alumni community. I would recommend this place for people seeking recovery support, but would be… irresponsible if I didn’t share an honest take on the real experience. At the end of the day, this is a business, revenue is the bottom line, and has impacted the experience. Positives: The community is amazing! So much support, understanding, and the heart of the recovery journey. The Staff: BHTs, Nurses, Facilities, and Kitchen employees genuinely care and many have been in our shoes. They go above and beyond to do as much as they can with the limited resources and policies they have to uphold. Negatives: Food and Diet: the food DOES NOT provide the nutritional value needed for a healthy recovery. I would not feed this to kids in schools even if it was free. The “continental breakfast” makes the Holiday Inn Express breakfast look like a luxurious spread. We are limited to 4oz of milk per client. The fruit is rotting most of the time and I’m sure the fruit you get at a food bank/pantry is fresher than what we get. I experienced regular fluctuation between constipation and diarrhea and not because of the medication. The budget for food continues to be cut as the building continues to expand. They took away our soda fountain “privileges” outside of meal times because of cost reductions. Staff: the facility is understaffed, stretched thin, and given limited resources to provide the beat support they can offer to us. Communication: the administrative leadership needs to address the communication gaps between the staff, therapists, case managers and providers. Make sure you stay updated regularly on your provider support because it changes regularly and clients find out sometimes the day they are asked to leave the facility. Preparation: Ask for an Avenues Handbook and READ IT carefully before you come. Bring extra clothes!!! Many clients come with little clothes and toiletry supplies and there is little that can be offered by the facility. Many of us would gift extra clothes to new clients coming with little to nothing and no access to more due to limited finances or lack of family/friend support. Food: bring plenty of non perishable food because you will be hungry. Bring a credit or debit card for nicotine purchases. Make sure to secure your ride after you leave since those are not guaranteed. Phone calls: give your contacts a heads up that you will have 1-20min call or 2-10min calls one designated day a week after the blackout period and time/day will be TBD. Would write more info, but my ride is here. Good luck and stay strong!
This is good place to get sober they help you out alot.
Amazing staff! Everyone went above and beyond to see that I was taken care of.
I came into avenues not knowing what to expect. After intake and getting settled in I was greeted by great BHT's and other clients. They made me feel super welcomed and showed me the ropes. The group therapist are also… really good they help you see you for who you can be. The food staff here are really nice and make great food. My only gripe is i wish there was more to do after groups, there is still a good amount. You get to sign up for tv, play basketball, ping pong and darts plus plenty of small board games and card games. The biggest problem I've noticed here is communication between the upper management and our lovely BHTs and nurses.
This place was definitely a place of healing for me. I came here a truly broken person with zero will/strength to move forward. I didn't know who or where I was or where I was going. I can honestly say that they helped… me find all these things plus more. I adore so many of the people work here, more than they will ever know. I would definitely recommend this place as a place to turn the light back on at the end of the tunnel and start heading towards it. On another note though. There were some who wanted to stay and weren't provided with a way. As well as some who wanted to leave but we're unable to do to some unusual property restrictions upon leaving AMA. I hope that they keep striving to put clients well being above business principles moving forward. I Love You All Dearly
Avenues in Fort Collins is a Godsend. It saved my life. After 2 near death overdoses I needed help. It took some getting used to at first, but it’s nice to take a break from it all and focus on yourself for a while. The… staff here are effin awesome. Most of them are in recovery themselves so you can relate with them instead of some practitioners who are super judgmental about your past. The foods ok not great, it’s 2 to a room and has a gym. If your shopping around for rehabs, this one is probably the best in the area.
All of the staff is wonderful!! The time and attention they poured into me was truly remarkable. You can feel how much they care about each and every person who comes through the door. Also my case manager, Christie,… moves mountains for people behind the scenes getting everything done for her clients. The curriculum was new and very thorough. Thank you all for helping save my life.
This place has been a life changing and the staff are so amazing and have been through everything I have and more. With out the staff I could not of made it through.
Great staff with all the bhts and therapists. Nutrition guy and food were pretty terrible. But not why I was there either. Other than Trey its a grest place. Would recommend!!!
So avenues recovery center of fort Collins is amazing.
Overall, I had a very solid experience during my time at Avenues Recovery Center. They connected me with an excellent set of resources, and ensured that I had a fortified aftercare plan. I would highly recommend this… facility to my peers, etc.
Wonderful, thoughtful people throughout. Recovery minded councilors, and staff.
The best part about Avenues is the community of patients. They definitely make you work for your recovery, which I grew to like. They do their best to set you up well for discharge and take care of your needs while… you’re in here. It’s a pretty basic facility, but I’m very grateful to them and their treatment team.
