Treatment Centers in Colorado That Accept Kaiser Permanente

Kaiser Permanente members in Colorado get drug and alcohol rehab through Kaiser’s own Chemical Dependency services in Denver and Boulder, northern Colorado and southern Colorado, with no referral needed. Kaiser runs medical offices but no hospitals in Colorado, so inpatient and residential care happens at outside facilities Kaiser authorizes.

Program entries below give a phone line, the care each one runs, such as residential treatment, withdrawal management or an intensive outpatient track, and any Joint Commission or CARF accreditation on file. The state’s licensing files and government treatment registers are where this comes from, which is useful when Kaiser sends a member to an outside program.

Does Kaiser Permanente Cover Rehab in Colorado?

Yes. Kaiser Permanente covers substance use treatment for Colorado members on employer, individual and Medicare coverage alike, and the Colorado Chemical Dependency service sees members without a referral. According to Kaiser, treatment for addiction that its care team sets out is covered by the member’s plan, which is the usual route into Colorado substance use programs.

Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Colorado is both the insurer and, through its medical offices and Permanente doctors, the main source of care. Colorado has no Kaiser hospitals, so rehabs that accept Kaiser for higher levels of care are outside facilities working under Kaiser authorization or a contract.

Does Kaiser Permanente Cover Inpatient Rehab in Colorado?

Yes. A 2022 Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Colorado small-group Evidence of Coverage lists inpatient medical and hospital services, residential rehabilitation and outpatient services under its substance use benefit. Inpatient addiction care and residential rehabilitation programs are used at facilities that Kaiser’s Medical Group or Health Plan designates.

How long will Kaiser Permanente pay for residential rehab?

Kaiser Permanente Colorado does not publish a fixed stay length in the documents found; its utilization management staff authorize a period and decide extensions using MCG guidelines, Medicare rules and Kaiser’s own criteria. Intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization are also followed by concurrent reassessment in Kaiser’s 2024 Colorado PPO provider manual.

Does Kaiser Permanente need prior authorization for inpatient rehab?

Yes. Kaiser’s Colorado HMO requires a referral authorized in advance for any non-emergency service from an out-of-plan provider or facility. Kaiser’s 2024 Colorado PPO manual says the facility calls Kaiser’s on-call psychiatrist before any inpatient, acute treatment unit or partial hospital admission for chemical dependency, and that psychiatrist decides by phone.

Does Kaiser Permanente Cover Detox in Colorado?

Yes. Kaiser Permanente covers withdrawal management for Colorado members as part of inpatient medical and hospital services, arranged through Chemical Dependency or the on-call psychiatrist. Medically supervised withdrawal at an outside hospital or facility needs that same Kaiser authorization, except when the member arrives as an emergency, which Kaiser covers anywhere.

Does Kaiser Permanente Cover Outpatient Rehab in Colorado?

Yes. Kaiser Permanente covers outpatient chemical dependency visits, insured intensive outpatient and partial hospital programs in Colorado. Kaiser’s Colorado PPO provider manual says that since July 30, 2021 therapy, medication management and intake codes generally need no authorization, and members book through 303-471-7700 or 1-866-359-8299.

Kaiser Permanente Colorado members can book video counseling for addiction with a Kaiser mental health professional or an Amwell therapist without a referral. Kaiser also offers online mental health chat on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Headspace and Calm apps at no cost, and phone or video visits with addiction medicine specialists.

Does Kaiser Permanente Cover Suboxone, Methadone and Other Addiction Medications?

Yes. Kaiser Permanente covers medication treatment for addiction through its own Colorado drug lists, published separately for commercial HMO, marketplace, EPO and federal employee plans. The commercial list, current as of September 15, 2026, sorts drugs into seven tiers, from preventive drugs to specialty and medical-office drugs.

Does Kaiser Permanente cover naltrexone and Vivitrol?

Yes. Kaiser’s 2026 Colorado commercial formulary lists oral naltrexone with insurance on Tier 2 as a maintenance drug and Vivitrol shots with insurance on Tier 5, the specialty tier, with a day-supply limit. Naloxone injection and nasal spray are on Tier 2 with no restriction listed.

Does Kaiser Permanente cover methadone?

Yes, for Kaiser Medicare members, whose plans must match Medicare’s coverage of methadone, buprenorphine and naltrexone at enrolled opioid treatment programs. Methadone program care is not on the Colorado pharmacy list because it is dispensed by those programs, so commercial members ask Chemical Dependency for an authorized program.

Does Kaiser Permanente cover alcohol use medications?

Yes. Kaiser’s 2026 Colorado commercial formulary places acamprosate (Campral) treatment and disulfiram treatment programs on Tier 2, the preferred generic tier, marked as maintenance medications that may qualify for extended mail-order supplies. Member Services answers drug list questions on 303-338-3800, and copays come from the member’s Evidence of Coverage rather than the list.

Kaiser Permanente Rehab Centers Near the Flatirons, the Poudre River and Denver International Airport

Kaiser Permanente organizes its Colorado care into three service areas, Denver and Boulder, northern Colorado and southern Colorado, so the setting a member picks should sit inside one of them. Outside those areas, Kaiser HMO plans cover urgent and emergency care, with routine care available in other Kaiser regions.

Kaiser Permanente rehab near the Flatirons

Kaiser’s Denver and Boulder service area includes Boulder County, where the Flatirons rise above Boulder, Louisville and Lafayette. Front Range mountain rehabs and Lafayette recovery services are reachable on Kaiser plans when Kaiser authorizes the program or contracts with it, and PPO members have an out-of-network tier as well.

Kaiser Permanente rehab along the Poudre River

Kaiser’s northern Colorado service area covers the Front Range north of Denver, where the Cache la Poudre River leaves its canyon at Fort Collins. Rehab centers near rivers and downtown Fort Collins programs need the same Kaiser authorization as a Denver program for any facility stay.

Kaiser Permanente rehab near Denver International Airport

Kaiser Permanente’s travel rules matter for members flying in or out of Denver International Airport for treatment: Colorado HMO plans cover routine care only inside a Kaiser region. Rehabs near major airports and programs in Green Valley Ranch sit inside Kaiser’s Denver and Boulder area.

How Do I Find a Rehab That Accepts Kaiser Permanente in Colorado?

Browse the listings on this page. Colorado programs shown here take Kaiser Permanente, and the entries give a phone, care levels and accreditation, with filters for location and service. Because Kaiser’s HMO plans pay outside programs only with authorization, a call to Chemical Dependency settles whether Kaiser will authorize a particular one.

Kaiser Permanente admission to inpatient, residential or partial hospital care in Colorado runs through the Behavioral Health Access Center at 303-471-7700, or the facility’s call to Kaiser’s on-call psychiatrist. Southern Colorado members use 1-866-702-9026, which never closes. Below, each Kaiser plan line in Colorado is set against its rule for care outside Kaiser.

Kaiser Permanente rehab in Denver

Kaiser Permanente treats Health First Colorado patients in seven Denver and Boulder area counties as a fee-for-service provider paid through the regional organizations, not as a Medicaid plan. A Denver Medicaid member who sees Kaiser still gets rehab authorized by Colorado Access. Treatment centers in Denver and Highlands rehab programs follow that split.

Kaiser Permanente rehab in Aurora

Kaiser Permanente members in Aurora fall in the Denver and Boulder service area, where the Behavioral Health Access Center line runs weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and the 24-hour advice line is 303-338-4545. An admission at one of the downtown Aurora treatment programs still needs that center’s authorization.

Kaiser Permanente rehab in Boulder and Longmont

Kaiser Permanente’s Boulder County members are in the same service area as Denver, and Carelon Behavioral Health lists Kaiser’s Denver Boulder region among the plans it serves. Carelon also lists northern and southern Colorado. Boulder recovery programs and Longmont treatment centers may deal with Carelon on Kaiser’s behalf.

Kaiser Permanente rehab in Colorado Springs

Kaiser Permanente’s southern Colorado members, centered on Colorado Springs, have their own mental health and chemical dependency line, 1-866-702-9026, staffed around the clock every day of the week, unlike the Denver line. Authorization for Colorado Springs rehab centers or Briargate treatment options runs through that line.

Can I use Kaiser Permanente for rehab in a different state?

Rarely, on HMO plans. Kaiser plans generally pay only urgent and emergency care outside Kaiser areas, though 24-hour virtual care continues, and a member visiting another Kaiser region, such as California or Washington, can get routine care there at standard copays with no claim forms. PPO and point-of-service plans add out-of-network tiers. The travel line is 951-268-3900.

How much does rehab cost with Kaiser Permanente?

Kaiser Permanente’s Colorado cost depends on the plan’s copays, coinsurance and deductible, set out in each plan’s Evidence of Coverage for the year. Child Health Plan Plus families pay small income-based copays, with a yearly cap of 5 percent of household income, and Health First Colorado members seen at Kaiser pay no substance use copays.

Kaiser Permanente coverage is one of several routes to paying for rehab in Colorado. The listings also show rehabs accepting private insurance from other carriers, and Colorado’s Medicaid program bills members nothing for substance use services, so a Colorado member waiting on a Kaiser authorization can still compare programs and ask each whether it has worked with Kaiser before.
