Warning for anyone arriving at St. Cloud Hospital ED via EMS! If you arrive at this Emergency Department by ambulance, be prepared to be pushed into the public waiting room and subjected to aggressive security screening… while in severe medical distress. After arriving via EMS, I was put in the waiting area. Due to the stress of my medical emergency, I set my bag down hard during a bag search. Instead of using basic de-escalation skills on a vulnerable patient, the security officer immediately snapped, accused me of throwing my bag, and barked, "Don't throw your bag and don't tell me how to do my job." When I called him out for his hostile attitude toward a patient in distress, he escalated the situation even further—forcing me to walk away from the interaction entirely. Having hospital security power-trip and pick fights with patients who just arrived by ambulance is completely unacceptable. Forcing emergency patients through high-stress, hostile security checks in an open waiting room creates an immediate safety hazard for patients, staff, and bystanders. CentraCare's security protocol is broken, unsafe, and lacks basic trauma-informed care. Formal complaints have been submitted to Patient Relations, and regulatory complaints are being prepared for the Minnesota Department of Health. Avoid relying on their security to treat you with basic human decency during a medical crisis.
The emergency room department here is a joke. We are frequent fliers with 4 young boys and management needs a change up to operate this hospital better, I’ve literally watched people almost die in the waiting room.… Taking on average 5 hours to get a room.
The care I received for my cancer surgery was top notch! I would not go anywhere else for my medical care.
February 1st 2023 Went in for a c section I had decided I was not breast-feeding as I had trouble with it with my last pregnancy as I entered the room to have my C-section. The nurses asked what I was doing, and I said… I would be formula feeding. I was met with a lot of shaming And after I was done with my C-section, I entered the waiting period to go back to my room and a nurse grabbed my daughter and shoved her on me to breast-feed after telling her I was not breast-feeding October 2024 Very traumatic I was in the hospital that day. I cannot remember why I was in the hospital Something baby related, but I was discharged and as I was going through getting discharged, I asked a nurse for some Tylenol because I had a really bad headache. The doctor came in and discharged me Never thought to tell her that I had a very bad headache because I had just told the nurse and asked for some Tylenol. Later on the headache developed into the worst headache I’ve ever had and we had to go back in because of it as I went back in I was met with the same doctor and I was screamed at And I mean actually screamed at for not telling her I had a headache before I was discharged and I tried to explain that I had told the nurse and I didn’t think anything about telling her because it would’ve been charted and the nurse didn’t seem concerned anyway this was so bad I had to leave and wait until shift changed to come back because she was so rude and mean Anyway, I came back in as shift change was happening Pacifically told the nurse that I’m refusing care from her so do not let her come back. That I would wait for the other doctor to get done with shift change. She didn’t care she came back in and started talking to me again. Luckily, Shifts changed started and I got a doctor that actually cared and did a bunch of tests and what not just to find out that I might have had hidden preeclampsia because they put me on a blood pressure medication so they thought it might have been hiding the symptoms so I was scheduled for an emergency C-section and things started going very wrong very fast after that I got into the C-section room I could feel that Something was off as I have had two prior C-sections before this, and I have never been able to feel my feet. I tried telling the nurse this and she puffed and poked me with things I couldn’t feel where she was poking me, but I knew something was wrong and I was ignored As everything started, I started feeling things painful things, and I tried to tell the nurse and she ignored me and I could tell you that it was very painful I could feel things being shoved inside of me my stomach hurt very bad on top of all of this my nurse forgot my husband And my son was Almost out when somebody said, didn’t she have a partner and then the nurse scrambled to go get him finally got my son out and tried to give him to me, but I was in pain and I could not take him and finally the NICU Nurse said hey something is wrong and then they started listening and gave me some painkillers to help so I could see my son before he was rushed off to the Nicu. After this was all done and said with I was brought out to go to my room after waiting in the waiting period for I don’t know 30 minutes to an hour as we got to my room. It was not done. I was waiting out in the hallway finally my room is done and the nurse brought me in, but she had no help and the bed kept falling. She tried to get a cleaning staff to help her move me onto the bed as I was still numb and couldn’t move. The cleaning lady refused rightfully so so she grabbed the sheet and pulled and I could tell you that I felt something. I have never screamed so loud in my life. I have been traumatized Belittled and made to feel unconfident, Stupid, Scared also think that they should never have one nurse when transferring a patient onto a bed. I think that was very much ridiculous. alongside being screamed at by a doctor. Ignored about pain.
Literally the worst experience I've ever had. Was brought by ambulance in severe pain. Didn't even get me to triage for an hour. Lady at the front who said she'd get me more medicine is a liar as she didn't within the… 3HOURS I was there. Have me so much IV fluid that I almost didn't make it to the bathroom. When I asked for discharge papers she looked at me and rolled her eyes, gave me the papers and when I gave them back to her, she rolled her eyes again and took them reluctantly. Then when I said I still need my IV out she said and I quote "WE KNOW! (Under her breath) We have 40 people here still) maybe hire more staff or get better staff. Go to little falls or St Joe if you need the hospital.
Straight left because this hospital doesnt care rather chest pain it not they want yo put people in the waiting room with no regard
My dad went here and had hallucinations for a dad and fell asleep lot of times
Wait times are ridiculous!! This needs to be fixed as the bad reputation here for wait times has been ongoing for years.. do something !!
My brother, that I reported about on here, died at St. Cloud hospital. Hey, CEO, maybe you ought to treat your employees better and then maybe the caregivers will do better at caring for patients. It turns out that the… "indolent" cancer that they said my brother had in his duodedum, grew a LOT faster than they said. Plus, his family members didn't know and I don't think he knew either. The only thing we were told is that he had a bleeding ulcer and that was what was causing his vomiting blood. That was back in November. He was back in the hospital a couple of times since then and died 9 days ago there. I am highly, highly disappointed in this hospital. I will for sure have all of my loved ones steer clear of it. It is horrible!
This hospital saved my life! I was flown in from my hometown as they couldn't do much with me. I don't remember much but waking up after being placed on a breathing tube. I woke up to very kind, reassuring, helpful… ect... nurses, doctors and respiratory therapist. I am a healthy 43 year old women but I was very sick. I was very well taken care of. Genuine good nurses. While I was intubated my husband and mom also said the nurses were amazing. I thank you all very much for your genuine care! I was in ICU for a few days i wish I could remember the names as the staff was wonderful. One nurse I remember very well and that is Britt. She was amazing! You can tell she honestly cares about her patients. Thank you for all your hard work!
Came here for a consult/stay on the OB 3rd floor wing and had great experiences with the nursing staff over the weekend and had good attention from OB doctors as well. Rooms were comfortable and cleaned every day and… the food selection is great but would appreciate if a support person didn’t have to pay out of pocket for their meal. Also it was mentioned to us by an employee that access from the South ramp used to be open and was very convenient but due to staffing cuts they closed that so you have to take quite an indirect route up there.
It is literally faster for my family to drive to either monticello or Princeton hospital emergency room than it is to go to st cloud hospital, my personal average time in the e.r. in st cloud is an average of 6 to 7… hours, for that wait time you can literally drive to most of the state and get seen in the emergency room before you get seen at the st cloud hospital. I watched a little boy with his arm broken off to the side sit crying in pain for 6 hours and he still hadn't been seen, at that point I ended up leaving because I had already been there for 8 hours waiting to be seen after a car accident
The doctors I had weren't the best, when I got blood drawn they didn't listen to me saying it was hurting when they tried taking blood and ended up with a burst vein which hurt for a day or two and the blood draw made… me vomit (though I don't get nauseous by the sight of my blood.) later on a doctor had checked my arms for absolutely no reason? They didn't give any reason to check them, they just did that to see my self harm scars which I clearly stated I'm uncomfortable with showing. And when they discharged me they prescribed a "sleeping pill" that was actually an antidepressant used off label for sleep issues and didn't specify that it was actually an antidepressant so my mother ended up almost mixing my previous antidepressants with these because they said NOTHING! I could've been hospitalized again because of that if I didn't do research on the pills they prescribed!
I had a family member flown in for ICU stay. Very attentive staff who take the time to explain things to you. Very open to communication but also excellent advocates for their patients.
Was humiliated and treated like crap for no reason other than making a joke - was being judged by someone who doesn't know me she felt the need to belittle me in front of her peers i guess it made her feel superior
sent husband to hospital twice because he couldn't eat without choking said he was fine just thicken his food the first time second time they said he ate just fine but I tried to feed him and all he did was choke sent… back to facility 2nd time and than he died
I am being left in lobby at pain level 10 with spine pain tingling down legs. Others are being called before
Can’t say enough horrible things about CentraCare
This hospital has the worst in patient contact that I have ever seen in any hospital!!and its not just this one time! its each and everytime a patients in their care! its impossible to make contact with your loved ones,… not to mention the nurses nor the Doctors return any call with updates..hands down the worst hospital to be in!!if you have an option id recommend not useing saint Cloud hospital
