Free by the Sea – Ocean Park Detox and Rehab Services

What Free by the Sea – Ocean Park offers, on record, is residential treatment and intensive outpatient. Sessions follow a set timetable while people keep living at home. A proper assessment sets the level rather than leaving it to guesswork, and it is worth asking for one explicitly.

Free goes beyond addiction and helps you to explore the reasons for your addiction. Most places treat the symptom but at Free they treat the symptom and the problem as long as you're open and honest with yourself.

I've been to more residential treatment centers then I care to admit, so I'm speaking from an overwhelming amount of experience when I say that this is the best treatment center I have ever been to. There's too many… reasons to list why. Also I'd like to add that most likely anyone leaving a bad review either was kicked out for fraternizing with the opposite gender, or they were caught using and elected to leave, most likely out of embarrassment. It's amazing at every decent rehab there will always be a dramatic difference between a review left by someone serious about changing their life and those who may e just aren't ready yet. If you're ready to have a life worth living and want the absolute best chance at living up to your full potential, then there's a couple things to consider: 1. Be honest and show up with the intention to get all you can from this experience. 2. Consider that you may not know what you need and most likely they do so be willing to take suggestion. 3. The staff and the owners at FBTS are the most caring and invested people I've ever encountered at a rehab facility. Also, the counselors and techs aren't there because they are making all kinds of money. These people will laugh with you, cry with you, and will be your biggest fan throughout your program. 4. The location is good, the facility is good, the food is good, the services are good, but the staff and the overall experience are the absolute best at what they do and the owners somehow managed to get them all in the same place. Addiction is hard but this place definitely makes it easier to not have to suffer from it.

I personally received treatment from free by the sea in August 2022 and little did I know that it would change my life forever after 20 years of mental health challenges and substance abuse challenges I was able to… finally learn about my addiction in my disease and beyond that I’ve been able to not only achieve long-term recovery, but I am now set to graduate with my Bachelor’s in Human Services and Addiction Studies in October of this year, My next path I will be perusing my Masters in Organizational Leadership and Change. I currently work as a peer support specialist supervisor in the housing department in the city that I live in, working with other individuals coming out of or going into inpatient treatment and getting them connected with social services, housing, and healthcare. I am able to use my lived experience to support others who are struggling and connect with those in need. I am continuing to grow in my recovery and continue my education, I’m proud to say today that I am definitely the man that I’ve always wanted to be and I look forward to what comes along the horizon. Free By The Sea was a wonderful therapeutic, loving compassionate place to heal to discover and to continue to recover, I recommend this place to anyone that is struggling with mental health and or substance use. The staff are compassionate. The programs are amazing and the care you receive is phenomenal. thank you Free By The Sea for everything that you taught me ,today I am living the life I’ve always dreamed of and as in usual fashion every year, I will get back on here and review and update you on my progress. And on a side note I would love to have an opportunity to share my journey at a speaker meeting on site if you are interested. Thank you again for empowering me to take my life back.

Free by the Sea is a truly remarkable place that exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warmth and understanding. The facility itself is well-maintained and provides a peaceful… environment conducive to healing and growth. Being so close to the ocean adds a serene, calming presence that nurtures the spirit. What truly sets this place apart is the staff. The team at Free by the Sea is beyond amazing. Their dedication and genuine care for each individual are palpable in every interaction. They go above and beyond to ensure that each person feels supported and empowered. The counselors and support team all work seamlessly together to create a holistic and nurturing experience through both one-on-one counseling and group classes. As you settle in, something extraordinary happens—you begin to form deep connections with others in recovery. These individuals become your family, sharing in your struggles and triumphs in group classes. The bond that develops is unbreakable, offering strength and support that extend far beyond your time here. I got back to my crocheting thanks to Free by the Sea, and it has become my favorite thing to do while I'm here. It's brought a lot of happiness to people who I've made water bottle holders for. I never expected to find such a level of care and commitment, and I am immensely grateful for the positive impact they have had on my journey. This experience is one I will never forget. If you're looking for a place that offers not just treatment, but also compassion, community, and a path toward renewal through counseling and group classes, Free by the Sea is the perfect choice. Highly recommended! Love Zuzu ❤️

It wasn’t me that went here but rather my dad. After losing him this year I’ve been reflecting on his time at treatment, and I attribute a lot of the sober time I had with him to here. This place had something he never… found anywhere else, and I think that’s special

When I came to Free by The Sea I was nervous and scared. Not knowing anyone and it not being home . Everyone was so welcoming though, and the days turned into weeks and the weeks turned into months. And now I go home in… 2 days. I staid the whole 90 day program had classes had activities, and had the beach for my calmness. Being here felt like I was at a camp for adults not a treatment center. I meet a lot of good people here that I hope they will be on my journey beyond . But if they are not, I am glad that I met everyone and I hope that their stories go well for them as well. I would recommend free by the sea for sober clean time , and accountability. Gonna miss you free by the sea, but hope I never have to return unless I’m a special speaker. Thank you for all, and goodbye.

My son recently completed 70 days at Free By The Sea, 30 days inpatient rehab and 40 days at onsite IOP. He used 5 days after coming home. The staff was very friendly and while I appreciated this at the time I am now… curious if this caused them to overlook his recovery status. This wasn’t how I thought this would be and am now starting over with a heavy heart.

My name is Shawn and tomorrow I leave Free by the Sea after spending five weeks here. I wanted to write this review to share my experience. Like all the other residents (patients), I didn’t come here on a winning… streak. The moment I walked in the door, I was greeted with a warm welcome from the staff as well as several other residents. I was broken in every way and seeking change that I couldn’t accomplish on my own. What I hadn’t anticipated was coming to a place that would change my life in ways I never imagined. The campus is located a couple hundred yards from the Pacific Ocean. A pickle ball court, and a beach volleyball court is surrounded by a walking path in the back of the property. All classes, as well as our AA and NA meetings, are held in the same room which hosts a TV that plays movies, shows, and sports (go Hawks and Mariners) during our free time. The food is amazing and all you can eat. There is also a snack room that is open around the clock for those late night snackers. You will never go hungry here. Also, another favorite part of being here is their Sound Bath class, and art class. They mix it up here to provide more options that contribute to recovery. One word to describe the staff is amazing. most of them are in recovery themselves, so it’s safe to say that you’re interacting with people who have been in your shoes and understand what you’re going through. They’re always available to help in any way they can. Their work is more than a job to them. The work they do is because they truly care. They take great pride in witnessing the growth of the residents, and watching the change in them from the time they arrive to the day they leave. The love they share a second to none, and they are a huge reason why my stay here will be unforgettable. To all the staff, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Finally, I want to talk about the other residents whom I had the privilege to share my time with. My favorite part about being here was not only getting well myself, but watching everyone here grow and become better people . We became more like family rather than just acquaintances. Some of my best counseling sessions came from my conversations with them. I got to watch people peel the layers, become vulnerable, and share things about their life that maybe they thought they weren’t going to be able to share when they got here. I got to watch these men and women grow and change day by day. It’s been an extraordinary thing to watch and be a part of. All in all, whether you have been to treatment before, or this is your first time, free by the sea is the place you want to be. I’ve never felt so prepared to get back into the world and tackle life again. I’ll carry my experience here with me always. I entered here a broken man, and I leave a man with a solid foundation ready to help others who share similar stories is mine. Until then, stay safe and may the best always be with you.

THIS IS YOUR SIGN. if you’re reading this review you are probably in the position I was in 3 months ago. You’re hopeless, you’re at the end of your rope. You see no way out, you’re sick and tired of being sick and… tired. This is your sign. You don’t have to live like this anymore. Please listen to me. You’re worth it. You’re worthy of life and worthy of recovery. Hi I’m Cameron and I’m alcoholic, an alcoholic who sees the light at the end of the tunnel for the first time in a long time. I checked into FBTS on September 22nd 2025, lost, confused, and terrified. It was the best decision I have ever made, a choice that undoubtedly saved my life. Over the last 3 months I have made connections that will last me a lifetime time, made friends i will never forget. This program, these staff members, these classes are a miracle you get to witness. Every single staff member is an angel who genuinely and truly cares about you and your recovery, the kitchen staff make excellent food that keeps you nourished and ready to take on your day, even the cleaning staff care about you and your life. You owe it to yourself to come here and get sober. It’s okay to not be okay and this place will embrace you just as you are. A mix of SUD and mental health counseling couples with outdoor activities like pickleball, basketball, badminton, and volleyball, a fully stocked gym and a couple miles of beach front trials to explore make your recovery feel like a vacation. Almost everything is taken care of for you so you have time to focus on what’s most important right now. You. I promise you if you come here you will NOT regret it, it will save your life and you will see that light at the end of the tunnel just like I do.

When I was lost and had no hope. When my world was torn upside down and had no idea where to even begin. By the grace of the universe I was referred to Free by the Sea by a friend. I called them and was met with… compassion and understanding. They guided me through the intake process and for the first time in a long time I felt heard. I felt seen. I completed their 30 day residential program and stayed longer for their IOP program and they literally saved my life. The staff and activities, the classes and their content, was exactly what I needed to get my life back on track. I found peace and safety. They fostered a place for me to fight my addiction and heal my heart. This was my launchpad to kickstart my life again after the darkness. From the clinical director, the counselors, the staff, the kitchen and cleaning staff, the owners themselves, and the medical teams. The admissions staff, the group fellowship, the nature, the ocean, the entirety of Free by the Sea has been a game changer. I owe them my life and if you’re looking for a holistic place to heal the wounds of addiction and wounds of the heart. This is the place to reach out to and start the process. Today could be the first day of the rest of your life!
