Cenikor Foundation – Amarillo (1001 Wallace Boulevard) Detox and Rehab Services

The register shows Cenikor Foundation – Amarillo (1001 Wallace Boulevard) providing detox, residential treatment and intensive outpatient. The withdrawal stage is clinically observed, which is what makes it safer than stopping alone. The structured element runs during the day and people go home afterwards. A proper assessment sets the level rather than leaving it to guesswork, and it is worth asking for one explicitly.

Only one side is on record here, so ask directly if both are needed. Approved medication is paired with counseling and regular review. Ask directly about session times and frequency, as those details decide whether someone can realistically attend.

1001 Wallace Boulevard, Amarillo, Texas, 79106 is the address held. Potter County covers this area. The catchment reaches beyond the city itself. How someone gets there matters more than it sounds: travel is one of the commonest reasons a course of treatment stops partway.

You really should not advertise that you have a inpatient treatment facility in Amarillo if you don't..It's very discouraging

Absolutely the worst staff. No experience, not helpful, and not compassionate. Good thing this place lost its funding. Probably for this very reason. Your supposed to help people, not yell and talk over people and… provide zero explanation. Glad yall lost your jobs as well.

Cenikor helped to save my life! I loved it there. I put myself in Cenikor because I wanted to live and I was desperate for help. It was a little rough at first. But the more open minded I was and the more willing I… became, the lessons that we were taught in the oh so many groups lol began to really open my eyes to my own self awareness and my truth. I loved the process groups (not at first) and I’ll forever be grateful to my counselor for pushing me to dig deeper. I loved most of the staff members there . I definitely had my favorites! Again I’ll say—Cenikor helped to save my life! I’m 412 days clean and sober today and now get to take meetings into Cenikor with a recovery group! That’s the best part!! ❤️❤️❤️

As a person in long term recovery in Amarillo, I love seeing a treatment center so involved in the community! The staff are professional and several are in recovery themselves and work selflessly to be a living example… of how life in recovery can be. The individualized treatment is unlike any I have seen in any other setting, and they truly go above and beyond to ensure the highest chance of success for each client. I know countless people who have come in the doors broken and feeling hopeless, and when they leave they have a new outlook on life and most importantly, a second chance at living....and are still sober to this day! This community has needed a place like this for a long time and it's so refreshing to see it working in such an amazing way within the community as well as throughout the state of Texas! Such a blessing!

The 2stars are for management and classes “required” to be taken. I did my 28 days there during the holidays and from my own experience, the truth of this place came out very quickly. I was accused of drinking alcohol… after going the hospital and walking back because not one person answered the phone to come back and get me. One of the head counselors stated movies are very pointless after having us participate in watching kid movies as a calming thing. Mind you it’s mandatory or you get written up. Standing up for yourself and actually working the program is non an option unless you want to get kicked out. The place is run by a group of women who move off of their emotions and not reason. I was kicked out at 28 days because they said my “mood was bad” in the last week. Wasn’t like I was coming off drugs or anything you know. When I was asked to pack my bags and leave I was rejected a spot in sober living or even staying there to get a job. As I’m leaving I hear the counselor down stairs say the me s beds are full but they are working on letting some of them go to let more in. I’m his place was a joke. I did what I could and got what I needed from it and the amazing people I met there. Other than that, if it’s an option.. go somewhere else.

Picked my father up today from this place. There are always two sides to a story but if only 25% of what he said is true. It’s a place I regret talking him into. I had heard rumors about family members dropping items… off and not making it to the client. When I bought 4 packs of smokes I made markings on each pack. He received two out of the four packs. Talked to 3 others that left within the last 48 hours. My father drank about 1/2 gallon of vodka a day. He went in on Wednesday at 11am received his first detox medication at 4pm and they only detoxed him till Friday. Had a personal friend that stays there at night on a different program, he was checking on my father. On Saturday morning he was shaking with withdrawals. Checked with other facilities each one said detox normally last 5 days sometimes 7 days. They all said if a patient is still having the shakes they are not ready to leave detox. They all said you have to sleep in your coats. Never was warmer then 62 inside. You can see the thermostats, but cannot adjust them. I understand most of the staff are heavy set but you shouldn’t have to freeze. Did some research on some of the staff members. Two have been arrested for theft. The best one was the lady arrested for trying to kill her husband! Classic. You only get three hot meals a week. So they give you 3 hot breakfast meals in 7 days same with lunch and dinner. I’m sorry but at $600 a day you should have some hot meals. In the morning you get one 6 oz cup of coffee. Ask anyone in recovery what they have in meetings! Cigarettes and coffee. Addicts need coffee. But you get one cup on the morning. At 6:45 it’s gone and they don’t make more. Treatment is a rough time. Your at your bottom. Little things like coffee, cigarettes and phone calls keep you going. This is just our experience, this might be the right place for your loved one. If your loved has insurance I recommend a different place.

Takes forever to get ahold of anyone on the phone, outpatient services you can not be more than 2 minutes late or they kick you out and tell you to come back at another time frame, so don’t be late, and don’t try to… express any concern you have with anything because they will respond with “I don’t see what you’re argument is.” Fancy building full of a bunch of people who don’t really care to actually help people with any kind of mental illness or addiction issues. 1/10 definitely would NOT recommend.

I am in recovery myself, and know of 3 people who graduated the program, who have over 4 years clean and sober, and at least 5 with over 1 year clean and sober! Cenikor provides a foundation for lasting recovery, which… is VITAL to success. Sometimes, when things get rocky, the strength of the foundation truly makes a difference. I’m grateful for Cenikor and what they do. As a local of Amarillo, I know how much this place has BEEN NEEDED!! Thank you for helping fight this monster of a disease!!!!

I brought my 21 year old son there for treatment. We live about 6 hours and do not know anyone in Amarillo. He has epilepsy and it was fully disclose to the facility. We made sure he had a 30 day supply of his 3… different meds he took for epilepsy. After his detox he went into the program. After a week in he had an epileptic seizure that they say no one witnessed. However, they did take him to the hospital as a precaution. Then the gave his bed away. The hospital released him that day but he had no where to go... remember, Cenakor gave his bed away. So he wound up at the Pavilion which is a behavioral unit. I talked to the pavilion staff and they could not figure out why Cenakor sent him there. Cenakor kept his balance of anti seizure meds and Pavilions had to send my son there to get them. He was at Pavilions for a day. So they released him from there and everything gets confusing at this point. After a other two phone calls to pavilions, they agreed with me that Cenakor gave my son a premature release and labeled it as a dangerous release. They agreed to admit him since Cenakor abandoned him to the streets. Two days later Cenakor agreed to readmit him. So Pavilion discharged him and when he got to Cenakor he was turned away. They said he didn't have a 30 day supply of anti seizure medication. Remember I'm a half day away from Amarillo and he did have enough meds for 10 days. Cenakor did absolutely nothing to help my son. They didn't care that he was left without food, water, medication and no treatment. I imagine they will want full payment for this so called treatment plan. An epileptic if left alone after being denied meds can die from an epileptic seizure. But Cenakor didn't care. They are not a treatment facility. They are a business that impersonate compassion just to get money. I finally made it to Amarillo and found my son wondering the streets next to a homeless shelter. The police were very helpful. The police said they wished I had contacted them prior to sending my son to Cenakor. Most everyone I've talked to in Amarillo since this fiasco doesn't have anything positive.to say about Cenakor.

Had a family member checked in yesterday for alcohol detox and is being let out today saying they are fully detoxed! This place is a joke! When some one drinks a 30 pack a day for yrs 24 hrs doesn’t give u enough time… to detox!!!

★☆☆☆☆
BeAtte Stokes2 years ago

They are liars and don't actually care about you. They care more for the employees than the detoxing clients. I'm literally trying to stop using and they put me out because I didn't cuss that rude woman out. And $650… per day! Wish I would have never went there.

It's difficult to bemoan any facility trying to do something about the addiction crisis, however I think it's important to be honest about my experience as others seeking help might read this. There are good people… working here, but the real issues have to do with the tippy top of the administration here. This facility is a siphon for state funds, and the compassion goes only so far as it is profitable for them to be so. Rules and protocol are selectively enforced. I personally heard the head of the facility make derogatory comments about one of the patients. Like I said there are people working here that truly care, and the experience in total was beneficial, but I wouldn't credit that to the facility itself as it was overcrowded and understaffed. If you need help at the end of the day, any rehab is better than no rehab.

10-27-23 Update: when I called the number it’s the same “call center” that simply says they will send the complaint to “leadership” {insert eye roll} and nobody calls back. Did you know you can’t find an DIRECT NUMBER… to their facility??? Update 10-23-23after an 3 week wait for a response! They still haven’t responded to my phone calls. Have called multiple times. They claim the allegations made aren’t true. How would they know? They don’t respond or speak to anyone. Still 1 star and take your family elsewhere! Amarillo facility is full of drugs! I’m not an addict, im a mother of an addict. Contacted them 3 times about concerns and never got a response. We waited 4 hours in the lobby room for intake, my daughter was allowed to have her phone in the room “as long as the others didn’t see it “ she was offered suboxone, Percocet, & xanex inside the facility from other clients in exchange for sodas, nicotine, etc. do not take your loved ones here. They never had any meetings, only watched movies like “A Star is Born” (Lady Gaga documentary) and “Pursuit of Happiness” (Will Smith) during the meetings.

For a few Years, I was desperate to find help for my daughter who became an addict and abandoned her children, burned bridges with family and friends and everything else destructive that comes along with addiction. I… would see a commercial that advertise how Easy getting help for a loved one was only to be frustrated and left with a feeling of hopelessness when you immediately get the truth you need Money ( not small amounts) or great insurance in order to get past the operator. Many sleepless nights and call after call was my down time due to having to raise children ( her children)all over again and juggling a full time job in order to provide her children with a stable happy home while trying to keep our dirty family secret of why my husband and I were raising our daughters children. I'm still praising God for the fact I called Cenikor. My daughter is on Medicaid however, I was thinking they made a mistake and misunderstood me when the operator said to bring my daughter to the facility or have her call for the intake process... this was the first time I was given Hope after so many shut doors and prepared myself for the "oops, but while you're here, our price is this and your payment options are this" once I found my daughter and she said she was ready for help and got her there. Our daughter is still there and about to graduate the first step in this long process of recovery and I will forever be grateful for Cenikor and the staff at the Amarillo facility. They not only treat our daughter, they extended above and beyond to help our entire family as this affected all of us and we don't know what our role needs to be in order for our daughter to succeed after discharge. I have opened my eyes to realize we are not alone in this battle to literally save my daughters life and now have true hope that her children will no longer have to explain why they are being raised by their grandparents. I see a future with her coming back to us all and raising her children as a sober mother with a mission to utilize her recovery skills and new strong support system to not only succeed but be an example of what Cenikor provided. Skills and knowledge that we didn't understand so couldn't help in the past and the rollercoaster ride is about to end. I urge any parent going through what we are to call Cenikor because for the first time in a few years, I can sleep without the fear of that dreaded phone call in the middle of the night with news no parent wants regardless of the age even though during her downward spiral, I mourned the loss of her multiple times. Cenikor saved our daughter. Cenikor gave 5 precious children their mother back and continues to provide the support system for the future I have been praying for.
