About Spero – Owatonna

Spero sits at 610 Florence Avenue, Owatonna — around 5.3 miles from Medford and 12.5 from Claremont. Within around 13 miles that includes Medford, Claremont, Warsaw and Waseca. Owatonna is in Steele County, which shapes which public funding routes apply.

Spero provides intensive outpatient and outpatient care. Medication-assisted treatment is part of the offer, the approach with the strongest evidence for opioid dependence. Both conditions are worked on in parallel, which is what the evidence supports. Some contact can happen by video rather than in person. Dedicated support for veterans is available. SAMHSA holds the federal registration; the Minnesota Department of Human Services the state license.

Spero – Owatonna Detox and Rehab Services

Spero – Owatonna delivers intensive outpatient and outpatient care. Sessions follow a set timetable while people keep living at home. What suits one person will not suit another, so ask directly. It is reasonable to ask how progress is reviewed and by whom.

Mental health and substance use are handled together rather than in sequence. Approved medication is paired with counseling and regular review. Establishing what happens after the program ends is worth doing early. Ask how the program handles someone who has been through treatment before.

What an absolute joke. I was told to call first thing in the morning to schedule an intake because the spots “fill up fast.” So I called at exactly 8:00 a.m.—and somehow every spot was already gone. I tried again the… next day and was told I might get the 9:30 appointment, except several people were all being sent in to compete for that ONE spot on a first-come, first-served basis. Apparently, scheduling an intake at Spero now works like lining up for concert tickets. I give up. Spero used to be good. Whatever this system is, it certainly isn’t patient care.

I love Spero and how helpful, cooperative, and informative in regards to treatment, therapy, Doctor/Patient laws (HIPPA). They are very understanding and wish to actually help you reach your goals with mental health.

They made me wait in the lobby for over half an hour waiting for intake before telling me they aren't doing psychiatry right now. You could have told me that at the front desk, but you did not even ask why I was there.… Utter waste of my time.

Staff says they're going to do something and then they change their story. Then they change your story again. Take their sweet time causing distress on a mentally handy, decaped person who needs to get things taken care… of so that he can have a happy life and they're taking their sweet time, if you want to have the same as I am go through this stupid company otherwise, if they keep this up. I've already told the worker that I have that I will be turning them into the Better Business Bureau, the FBI if needed and my guardians which are a legal system.

I've had nothing but positive experiences with Spero. They have went above and beyond to find me treatment that works. I was previously turned off from getting any kind of help due to having to jump through the hurdles… of Mayo, and feeling as though I'm not being taken seriously. Spero makes me feel advocated for and I feel they take my concerns seriously. Everything I have suggested that would help me, they got scheduled right away. Psychiatry service I haven't had any issues with either. Your pharmacy should be able to send the refill request without any need for you to contact Spero personally. I'll admit I was reluctant to give Spero a try due to the negative reviews. Which is a shame because I'm so glad I risked it. I personally haven't had any of the issues mentioned in other reviews. I'm not calling anyone out but just like with anything else you have to take reviews with a grain of salt, as your experience may differ. We're also not getting the full story behind all the reviews or what might have lead up to them. Anyways I think Spero is a great resource to the community with caring and compassionate staff and I'm thankful to have them around.

This agency has been a strong and valuable resource within our community. It’s unfortunate to see negative reviews for an organization that continually works to help others. But then again, people often only leave… reviews when they have something to complain about, which doesn’t accurately reflect the positive impact this agency has made. Like many other places, they face staffing challenges, but they remain committed to supporting people who are actually ready to make positive changes in their lives. They go above and beyond for their clients and have helped so many people find stability and hope, including my family. I’m grateful to have such great resource serving our community, and I would highly recommend them to anyone seeking genuine support.

Should have looked at the reviews before going here. I typically don't look at reviews before going places. I would give this place 0 stars not helpful. When the therapists don't reflect their suggestions and can't even… fix themselves. I would not go here.

Friendly, understanding and no pressure. This is the best place to go for a “no judgement” visit for your mental health. 10 stars if I could.

I started receiving services from them a few yrs ago and it's been nothing but a nightmare ever since. There all have to many clients to be effective there for the interpersonal communication is poor. My suggestion is… to run the other way unless you can't think for yourself.

One star is an overly high score for the service here. While my therapist was great the office staff if HORRENDOUS. Between being consistently under staffed for more then a year. Nevering being able to reach a live… person and staff that are just down right rude, there are many other problems with how this facility treats individuals with mental health. I myself and a few others I know have had to reach out to the crisis line due to the down right mean and unhelpful staff. For a mental health place of business… Do better before you cause someone’s death

★★☆☆☆

Absolutely awful services. If you're on government assistance or someone else is paying your way for mental health services, by all means take a chance here. Otherwise, if you're just a person looking for mental health… services and are at the mercy of your own insurance, I'd look elsewhere. The services provided are not worth the hit to your bank account.

The staff are all wonderdul and caring. Its truly an asset to have my son's dbt therapy, psychiatrist, nurse practitioner for meds, etc all in one place. I cannot say how much i appreciate the help and support they give… parents throughout everything. My only dislike is that they are always late for every single appointment we've had (with the exception of dbt therapy). It's not one individual thats late, it's literally every person we've had an appointment with from 30mins late for intake, 20mins late for adhd testing, 20mins late for the nurse practitioner and 5-30mins late for the therapist. My advice to parents that need take time off of work or when taking your child out of school for appointment is to plan on spending an extra 30mins there because regardless of what time your appointment starts they will still spend the hour or however long your appointment is suppose be with you. All in all its worth the extra time.

I’m surprised I haven’t posted on here yet after being with them for so many years! I’ve been with them since I was in 8th grade and I’m still with them now (I’m 21). I’ve had CBT, DBT, EMDR, case management and… psychiatry here and I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for them💕 I’ve gotten to meet so many of the staff- everyone from the therapists to the receptionists, they’re all so sweet and caring and never judge☺️ I always recommend my loved ones going here whenever they want to reach out for help💓 They’ve helped me grow into a version of myself I never thought I’d live to see and I’m forever grateful for their help and compassion:) *shoutout to my therapist Ross who’s freaking AWESOME!!*
