About Pennington County – Rapid City

Pennington County operates from 321 Kansas City Street in Rapid City. The site sits in Pennington County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include Ashland Heights, Box Elder and Colonial Pine Hills. Distance matters here, and the nearest option is not always the one that fits.

Detox, residential treatment, intensive outpatient and outpatient care are delivered here. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

SAMHSA ListedSAMHSAListedThe facility appears in the federal treatment locator maintained by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. It is a record that the facility exists and reports its services, not an assessment of quality.
State Addiction Agency LicensedState Addiction AgencyLicensedLicensed by the state agency responsible for substance use treatment. Required to operate, and involves inspection of premises, staffing and clinical practice.
State Licensed RehabState AuthorityLicensedHolds a current licence from the state authority that regulates treatment providers. Licensing is a legal requirement to operate, not a mark of distinction.

Detox and Rehab Services at Pennington County

Withdrawal management covers alcohol, cocaine, methamphetamine and opioid dependence and is handled on site rather than referred elsewhere. Someone starting in detox can move into residential care without changing provider or repeating an intake. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Residential runs long-term, which suits people who have tried shorter stays without them holding. Trauma-specific services run alongside, which matters where the two are tangled together. Assessment decides the level of care, so ask what that involves and how quickly it can happen.

Pennington County Address, Location and Contact Information

The address is 321 Kansas City Street, Rapid City, SD 57701, in Pennington County. The catchment reaches Ashland Heights, Box Elder and Colonial Pine Hills. Confirm what a program covers before traveling in, since the level of care listed is not always the level with capacity.

Ask what a first appointment involves and how long the current wait runs before making the trip. Opening hours shift with staffing, and an evening slot one month may not exist the next. Waiting times vary with capacity, so call ahead rather than arriving unannounced.

They were having a Cybersecurity attack when I went here so they couldnt help anyone unless you already had an appt. Knowing that hopefully other people's information wasnt compromised. I didnt get assistance because of… this and the girl in the front wasnt friendly. They seem to lack compassion and customer service.

I have been trying to get help from these people since 2021. They only help those who are pregnant, or Native American. I have talked to many people in this city and they all refer me to these people just for them to… tell me to come back when I’m pregnant or magically turn into a different race. My grandfather fought in WW2 just for his granddaughter and daughter to get turned down and away multiple times by the only “human services for vets or family members of vets” organization in this entire city. This city needs way more counseling and training for their workers than they can provide for their city members.

Don't help hang up on you disrespectful don't care about their feelings or how they treat each other or their clients they don't give people rides when they're supposed to get to work they don't help 100% they don't… help with warrants anything like that there's always something in control of them

I went there for help and all that lady did was snarl at me and went to make copies and was telling my business to another lady there.
