About Mirror Inc – Shawnee
Mirror Inc operates from 6221 Richards Drive in Shawnee. The site sits in Johnson County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include Edwardsville, Kansas City and Lake Quivira. Kansas draws people across long distances for treatment, so travel time is worth weighing against waiting time.
Residential treatment is delivered here, alongside medication-assisted treatment, telehealth appointments and care for co-occurring mental health conditions. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves.

Treatment Services at Mirror Inc
Residential treatment runs to a set weekly schedule, with evenings and weekends spent at home. That suits people holding down work or caring responsibilities, though it asks more of someone managing early recovery alone. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.
Residential runs both short and long term, so the question at intake is which length the assessment points toward. Buprenorphine and naltrexone are available and paired with counseling rather than prescribed alone. Trauma-specific services run alongside, which matters where the two are tangled together.

Mirror Inc Reviews and Ratings
A licensing record says what Mirror Inc is permitted to do. Reviews from patients and their families say what treatment in Shawnee was like, and those accounts are collected in this section.
They treat their clients like criminals. Be prepared to take a drug test every time you meet with your counselor (with them watching you urinate), even if you are there voluntarily for alcohol, which doesn't even show… up on a drug test. My counselor was hyper-focused on marijuana use for some reason, even though that isn't what I was there for, and my use is infrequent. Oh, and the "meetings" are sometimes just sitting there watching a YouTube video. In addition, it took me two weeks of calling every day to finally get someone on the phone to schedule my first appointment (their voicemail was always full).
I want to thank The kitchen managers James and Rena the kitchen staff, they were incredible with feeding us constantly always making sure we had snacks and drinks, switching up the food. It was never the same thing… every day and to the techs Britney, Bri, Crystal, Trish, and Katrina They were all really easy to get along with understanding most have dealt with you know some of the same experiences themselves so things we were going through was relatable.
I love them
Trish is such a great person understand and very helpfully to her clients tina Dominguez
I attended five years ago and was directed by the counselors the correct ways to recover!
This place has gone so far downhill! I was there 11 years ago and the staff back then were professional, cordial, and a few of them even cared. This staff was so mean and rude towards all of us. I couldn't stand being… there. They make the clients run the groups, in fact there was very little interaction from any staff other than reprimands and derogatory remarks. Seriously. I was there only a few days, but saw no actual treatment plan or anyone even teaching a class. It was all done by clients. What a waste of time.
I decided to enter into recovery on my own free will. This place is not equipped for handicap accessibility. I was threatened 2 times by a man who on a daily basis was threatening men and women with violence yelling in… peoples face. It took one week for the staff to remove him. The showers and bathrooms are broken. Seemed more like a 3rd world country facility. You advocate for yourself in your recovery. The majority of the classes are not taught about recovery. There was not even NA LITERATURE THERE. What's keeping these doors open are people required to complete a program by the courts. $360.00 a day . Would not recommend. Look elsewhere.
Mirror Inc. (Shawnee) has truly been a life-changing experience for me. This organization helped me achieve sobriety, regain control of my life, and learn essential skills that I had missed along the way. From the… moment I walked in, I felt supported and understood. The staff here are nothing short of incredible. Their dedication, compassion, and tireless efforts to help individuals like me rebuild our lives are beyond words. They go above and beyond every single day, and their genuine care for each person is evident in everything they do. The programs they offer are not just about staying sober—they're about thriving. I learned valuable life skills, gained confidence, and discovered a sense of purpose I hadn't felt in years. The guidance and encouragement I received were instrumental in my journey, and I can honestly say I wouldn't be where I am today without their help. If anyone deserves recognition and a raise, it’s the staff at Mirror Inc. (Shawnee) They work tirelessly, often behind the scenes, to ensure every individual has the tools and support needed to succeed. Their hard work does not go unnoticed, and I am so grateful for everything they’ve done for me. If you or someone you know is looking for help to turn their life around, I cannot recommend Mirror Inc. (Shawnee) enough. This place truly changes lives, and I will forever be thankful for their role in my journey to a better life.
I left that place yesterday. I only lasted 5 days. I'm Honduran, and my cocaine problem is very serious. I was going to do my 28-day program, but from the moment I arrived, they treated me with complete indifference,… even though I'm 6 months pregnant. They didn't care. Most of the staff treated me badly; they wouldn't give me my medication and discriminated against me a lot for being Latina. And one woman named Tara who works there is awful and very mean; she treated me terribly. I don't recommend that place.
Kendra the head clinical counselor is not there to help clients. She's there to inflate her own ego over others. If your court ordered to be there then I'm sorry. If you don't have insurance look around and travel if… you need to in order to avoid this facility. They even promoted a tech to a counselor. A tech who in the past degraded many clients. The director however is amazing and I love her to death. Unfortunately she has the wrong people working underneath her. This review isn't meant to bash the facility. It's to make others aware of what they are getting themselves into.
While I would truly love to focus on the strengths of the select few staff members here that carry themselves in a professional and ethical manner, it would be disingenuous to you, the prospective client, to leave out… the unfortunate reality that it is overwhelmingly the clients that are left to run 80-90% of the responsibilities of operating their own treatment program here. A holistic, dynamic recovery from substance abuse demands the rigorous participation of the individual for whom the program is designed to help recover. Unfortunately at Mirror Shawnee, this concept appears to have been skewed in such a way where the individual client is now responsible for the nutritional, sanitary and other fundamental needs of their peers, while the majority of the program "leaders" visibly struggle to affect their influence in a meaningful way. The moment one enters the circus event that is Mirror Shawnee, as a client, a concerned family member, or as a new or long time staff member- there air is thick with confusion and distress and the mutual distrust and competition among all parties involved is palpable at every turn. I'm leaving a 5 star review in the hope that they will this posted perhaps a little longer than if I gave an honest rating (1 star). Mirror deletes the tsunami of negative reviews that are posted on here. Just look at number of reviews (7) and then see that there is only one 5 star review that's actually visible. Prior to the most recent purge of these reviews, there was atleast ten 1 star reviews and they have swept them all under the rug. If you have insurance and/or you're not court ordered into treatment, do yourself and your family a favor and go to Valley Hope or literally any other treatment facility. This place is the last stop on the treatment circuit before incarceration. To the staff- I just ask that maybe, just maybe you read this, and all of the other reviews and try to look at these statements not as attacks on your character by some drug addled delinquents; but as opportunities for real growth that can be earned as a community, and eventually shared amongst the broader community that we all call home. Until then, I'll keep checking back and keep leaving more encouraging reviews! I have so much more I could say and I know how fond you all are of thoughtfully receiving feedback and criticism and using it constructively! Much love 😀
Great place to get clean and sober with a NEW START. I love it here! Great treatment team. 💪 Stay for reintegration. This place works if you work it. #sobrietyisnumberone
