Evolution Group Inc – Albuquerque

This review is for the system itself at this agency. More specifically, their $75 no show fee. (I had heat stroke and did call the day prior to cancel). My insurance pays in full and instead of them attempting to work… with me to pay the fee over time (I was in between jobs and didn’t have the money), the admin said my sessions would be cancelled until I paid. The lack of communication from admin has been so disheartening. It’s been 7 weeks since I’ve had therapy and my mental health has suffered. As someone who is passionate about mental health, I would never treat someone this way. I have been a client off and on here for years. I want to point out both my therapists over the years were amazing! I’m sad to have to leave due to this agencies lack of care for me as a client. I tried talking to everyone I could there to remedy the situation. As a client, this is heartbreaking for future therapeutic relationships. As a professional, you hear these stories from clients and I can’t believe this happened to me. The system here is flawed and I hope it changes for the people they serve in the community.

I have been trying to get in with this clinic since April. They had me fill out intake forms and told me they’d match me with a specialist. I never heard back from them. I tried again last month in August. Same thing,… fill out all the intake forms online, called the intake coordinator and she again said she would match me with a specialist and I would get a call back to schedule an appointment. I called several times to see what the hold up was. The receptionist told me that they were held up by verifying my insurance. They do indeed take Cigna. I called a few more times to see if they had figured everything out. The receptionist again said that she couldn’t connect with anyone to verify my insurance. The phone number is IN BACK of the insurance card! I called my insurance for providers myself and got connected to an insurance agent immediately. I called the clinic once again and gave her the number I called to reach someone who could verify my insurance. She took down the number and kept saying she would call me back the next day. I am still waiting for a call back and it’s September. I will obviously not be a patient of theirs which upsets me because my daughter is a patient there with MY insurance and she enjoyed her in-person therapist. The front desk or insurance verification person just dropped the ball twice on me.

I’m new to both The Evolution Group and in-person therapy in general, but so far the experience has been… lovely. The space is like a protective compound of renovated homes with a central peaceful garden and multiple… therapy spaces. It feels safe, comfortable, and thoughtful. The staff have made the process simple… like checking into a spa. My therapist, Crystal, is patient, warm, personable, and genuinely listens. I’ve only had 2 sessions, but all of the worry and anxiety of being in a new environment and situation melted away during the first session. We haven’t started the work of therapy just yet, but I’m optimistic about the journey given the amazing start. Update: Seven months later and I'm still very much impressed. Crystal is a wonderful therapist and a beautiful soul. I'll be honest, the first 4 months felt like a rinse and spin cycle. That's just my experience of the process, but the team there made it easy to be a patient. Something strange... that place feels familiar and safe, like going home (in a good way). I continue to refer coworkers here.

Amazing place. Everyone here is incredibly understanding and down to earth. Very nice independent/local business here in Albuquerque dedicated to bettering peoples lives, and helping them through recovery.

Hello Evolution Group, i hate to leave bad reviews but you have to know that one of your therapist or psychologists that you have in your business has caused me a lot of trauma in my life. I will not say their name but… I find it ironic that someone who is meant to help people overcome trauma or whatever they are dealing with is also someone that has caused me trauma and having to see my own therapist. The psychologist that you guys have is mentally ill and should not even be working for you or be around kids in the first place. I will not say names but will tell you that she is a Mexican/Hispanic woman. I am not joking with you in any form, the woman psychologist you have is a total nutcase and should have her counselling license revoked. Don't say i didn't warn you. I would think there would be a bigger area in terms of background checking people like this especially if they are getting into a field like this.

Since I started coming to the evolution group it has helped me in so many ways. My therapist has helped me with my life long struggles this is the only group where I feel they truly care for their clients. My therapist… is so amazing I always feel great leaving.

Very professional

I approached the evolution group with a desire to take a UDS, urinary drug screen, to prove I was clean. I scheduled a time to come in and when I went in, filled out their paperwork and signed where I was required to… sign and then i asked to write a release for my doctor which it states in their policy that I had just signed that I can do but when I tried to do that and requested to do that as they stay in their policy is my right I was refused time and time again, I was shuffled around from staff to staff and the higher-ups, spoke to the Director of the clinic and they decided they would rather refund my money than adhere to their written policy. I specifically stated to them I was not trying to get them to change their policies but just adhere to the written policy that I just had to sign myself. The students and young staff on the weekend was quite accommodating and they tried to help so the two stars are because they have some good employees but their business practices are horrendous and violate social justice norms and practices but like anything in Albuquerque connected to the criminal justice system or heavily reliant on it for clientele it’s pretty corrupt

I contacted this group about 2-3 months ago. Set up the online portal and was told that I would be contacted when a therapist who accepted my health plan could get me in. It has been crickets since, which is highly… disappointing. I was looking for help and didn't get any whatsoever.

I was a court order to EG a while back. I hope to get back into therapy soon.

I've been going here for years. Excellent caring counselors and very comfortable atmosphere. But I've switched counselors about 5 times. Unfortunately they don't stay long.

Professional therapists with heart. I found my time here to be worthwhile, enjoyed the work my therapist and I completed. Grateful for the light my therapist showed me. Truly not the end of the tunnel, for me! Onward… and upward!!
