About Peak Behavioral Health – Santa Teresa

Peak Behavioral Health operates from 5065 McNutt Road in Santa Teresa. The site sits in Dona Ana County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include Anthony and Sunland Park. New Mexico draws people across long distances for treatment, so travel time is worth weighing against waiting time.

Hospital inpatient care, partial hospitalization and outpatient care are delivered here, alongside telehealth appointments and care for co-occurring mental health conditions. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves.

Treatment Services at Peak Behavioral Health

Hospital inpatient care, partial hospitalization and outpatient care run to a set weekly schedule, with evenings and weekends spent at home. That suits people holding down work or caring responsibilities, though it asks more of someone managing early recovery alone.

Trauma-specific services run alongside, which matters where the two are tangled together. Co-occurring mental health conditions are treated in the same building rather than split across providers. Assessment decides the level of care, so ask what that involves and how quickly it can happen.

Peak Behavioral Health Address, Location and Contact Information

The address is 5065 McNutt Road, Santa Teresa, NM 88008, in Dona Ana County. The catchment reaches Anthony and Sunland Park. Confirm what a program covers before traveling in, since the level of care listed is not always the level with capacity.

Telehealth appointments cover some contact where travel is difficult, which removes part of the journey for people further out. Ask what a first appointment involves and how long the current wait runs before making the trip. Waiting times vary with capacity, so call ahead rather than arriving unannounced.

Don’t reccomend if you have an under age child here they won’t answer their phone and won’t call to give you updates and have extremely limited visitation also so if you live 3+ hours away good luck

ABSOLUTELY MISERABLE. They just made it even more worse for my mental health issues, they made me stay longer…and made me want to sh even more. Girls would fight and pick at eachother and staff did NOTHING until the… fight was over and would rather watch like it was highschool. Disgusted and disappointed.

Absolute worst. Continuously give you the run around in order to try to keep patients there as long as possible. You get no straight answers from anyone there. Patients get no information on their care, every person… they see tells them that it's the next person's responsibility to let them know if they will be discharged. Tried to speak to nursing staff they told me not to waste my and their time by talking to them, they'll have the doctor and patient call you. Never happens.

This place probably shouldn't be an option even as a last resort. My daughter was admitted and attacked repeatedly by another patient while the staff either laughed or did nothing. Additionally, they never called in her… medicine to the pharmacy and took hours and hours to get them to do so by phone. They also "set an appointment" for my daughter's follow-up appointment with her doc, but...never did. And the office they said they'd set the appointment ended up being an elderly memory care facility. Incompetent doesn't even begin to describe this place––probably better described as malfeasant.

Terrible hospital, absolutely horrible. I was transferred here from a hospital in my city after calling EMS from a homeless shelter because I had thoughts of SI and after getting transferred to this hospital they would… not give me the medication I needed. (Side effects from withdrawing from that medication can be catatonia) So, after being at this psych unit for a bit of time they eventually had to call EMS as I recall to the best of my knowledge. The EMT's brought me to a regular hospital and I believe they gave me a shot to stabilize me. After that the hospital discharged back to Peak for care, but similar issues started to happen again so they had to call EMS, again and that EMS brought me to The Hospital of Providence Trans Mountain and I received care there until eventually being sent to PAM, by the time I made it to PAM I don't recall being out of my catatonia. Because of Peak and their absolutely terrible, horrible care I ended up in a hospital bed for a month before I was able to eat on my own, drink water on my own, and even be able to walk on my own. I was almost in a state of unconsciousness and I could not speak at all. Absolutely terrible care. They also didn't put my name on all of my belongings, so, when my sister had to come pick up my stuff she wasn't able to get all of my things. I also almost got stranded too (which is kind of the fault of the first hospital I got transferred from), if it weren't for my family I would've been homeless and stuck in El Paso, Texas without knowing anybody, not having any sense of direction, etc. If I could rate this psych unit negative stars, I would absolutely do so. I called this place earlier this month as well and I left a message about getting my stuff back just to see if there was anything they could do, giving them the benefit of the doubt, but they never called me back. DO NOT SEND YOUR FAMILY AND/ OR FRIENDS HERE!!!

This place is absolutely terrible.....is what I would say if I had no brain. The people who complain about this place genuinely have no reason to. I went about a year ago, and it was the best time of my life. However.… It is not five stars, because there were barely any group sessions. We mostly watched TV and played music. But that's my only complaint (if you can call it that) The other patients were so calm compared to some hospitals *cough cough Mesilla Valley* but this place is amazing. I recommended it to my friends mom

All I have to say is a few years later, I owe Peak Behavioral my life. Facilities like these all across the country save countless lives everyday. Some are better than others of course, but the point is that it isn't… Disney Land. It isn't long-term. It is here to keep you alive. Stabilize you, and set you up with the right path once you leave. I wouldn't, some of my friends wouldn't, be here without Peak. And I know many people feel the same way, mental health has a LONG way to go in America I won't lie. But what we do have right now is saving lives, and for now I completely respect that. The staff are good people, they care, and I know coming out of a facility like this feels weird. It will, but for me personally looking back on it. The staff knew what they were doing, they were doing their best, and they wanted to give me the right treatment at the time. I couldn't see it yet, but fast foreward a few years later it's as clear as glass. You can get through this, mental health is weird in so many ways. I was in and out of Peak when my father died. But I can stand tall now after outpatient hospitalization free for years now. I will never forget the coping skills Peak taught me. -To anyone who feels odd, or upset at hospitalizations. You matter.

literally so mean it's like no one even cares, i would not recommend to go there. they completely made a joke of my mental health due to my age, they ignored the side effects the meds gave me and they wouldn't let me do… my calls home half the days. they completely ignored me i felt extremely unwelcomed and uncared for. They made fun of kids in different languages or just straight up in english, and started a rumor about me and my friend which really hurt my feelings as we were both 12. They did nothing, they told us we would do therapy but they left us alone in a room, and half of the time we werent even allowed to watch the tv! They would not inform my mother the rashes the meds gave me daily, and they gave me shots without informing her either. The place made me feel worse then before, and I would never recommend it. the food also was bad, most the time the drink machine was just out. They also separated me from the only other girl who would talk to me and started rumors about us dating even after i told someone we weren't and asked them to stop.

Terrible. They didn't care for us and they had no compassion for our situations or our feelings. They refused to turn on the heater at night while I couldn't sleep due to freezing temperatures during the winter. My meds… were clearly unbalanced because I cried all day, every day, but I never received help, I received reprimands and punishment. I felt like a burden to the staff and I continued to get worse the longer I stayed there. I would hide in my room until I was forced to leave it. I'll never forget the torturous agony they put me through. Unsurprisingly, I went home and relapsed instantly.

Beware! I had a good experience with the main Dr and his assistant and most of the staff, they have techs that are physically and emotionally abusive. I was not let out of my room for days for no reason and was… manhandled by a female staff member with visible bruises on my arms and legs. Would not recommend to anyone!

I couldn't possibly be more impressed with, and grateful for, the Peak Behavioral Health staff. Sometimes, we veterans, active duty, guard, and reserves have unique challenges. Military personnel, I, former U.S. Air… Force, have the highest confidence regarding the exemplary professionalism, impressive talents, and extensive knowledge I saw in action at PBH. If you need help, please do not hesitate to get it at PBH. You'll be glad you did. Staff, thank you for all you do. You definitely make a difference.

I was there June of 2023. I was sent there via ambulance from my city because I had been overmedicated. My city called it serotonin syndrome. Once I got there I felt terrified. I have been in other units and this place… is AWFUL. The Dr took me off all the meds I had been on. I didn't understand how why I was feeling so bad. I told the nurse many times that I felt nauseous and was gonna fall down. The dr put me on other meds which I was having side effects from but I told the Dr I was OK because I knew he would keep me longer if I told him everything I was feeling. You can tell the people that work there dont want to be there. I heard so many of them yelling at patients for no reason. They made me feel like I was a bad person. I felt so disconnected while I was there and was afraid of not being let out so I lied so I could get home. After being home and still feeling very sick I went to the ER and they told my family that I was going through a severe withdrawal and that is because the Dr at the Peak did NOT taper me off all the medications that I had been on when I first got there. It took a total of 6 weeks before I started feeling like myself again. I felt like I was a prisoner in there. This place should NOT be open. They are heartless individuals.

I was visiting family there and one of the nurses there, Samantha I believe, or Sam, was very kind and funny. And genuinely seemed like she cared about the children and patients there. She was really helpful and made… the experience there a pleasant one. I had heard not great things about the place and that the staff was rude and uncaring. But she surprised me by how good of a person she was. It made me feel more relieved about having a family member there with someone like her around.

Terrible place in general, I was in the RTC and it was easily the most traumatizing/sickening experience I had. The staff kept making fun of all the kids in different languages thinking we don't understand. The nurse… and Phycologist just kept prescribing medications like it was candy, The RTC itself was in horrible shape and always had bugs and snakes inside or around it. The other kids in the RTC was always fighting and the staff would stop it but just make fun of it after. I highly do not recommend.

I was here around the age 12 for 8 months, so it about 12 years ago, from what I remember there really wasn’t much stimulation for us, we were basically inside sitting around or in class. Half the time the staff in the… girls unit were really rude and definitely had favorites. It was an experience! I did learn “some” things from here but I wish they had tried a little harder! My therapist recently recommended me to go back, do I’d probably be in the adult units but I honestly don’t know how things have changed from other reviews it seems like it’s the same.

I went here 6 months ago and i was treaded very very poorly and when i was "bad" they sent me to my room and no help was there for me and i went sent here for suicidal thoughts and i did NOT get any help on that the… only staff that helped me were 2 guys that helped me with my stuff and the others did not even care i was sitting and i got yelled at for sitting and i was sent to my room again next day i got yelled at for "fighting" whenever i just woke up and i didn't know what happened and they said "quit fighting" so the other people were confused and they just woke up too and they didn't do anything so i do NOT choose to send your kids here it sucks.
