30-Day Rehab Centers in Colorado

A 30-day rehab program in Colorado is a short-term residential or inpatient stay, usually 28 to 30 days, in which a person lives on site during treatment for a substance use disorder. Payment often runs through Health First Colorado, the state’s Medicaid program, or through a private plan. Licensing sits with the state’s Behavioral Health Administration.

Colorado’s short-stay listings follow a clear pattern: 83 percent are within 25 miles of a river, most often the North Fork South Platte River, and their median elevation is 5,310 feet. Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport is the nearest airport most often, and the median distance to the nearest airport is 18.9 miles.

Common questions about 30-Day Rehab

Answered from what is listed here.

Which Colorado cities have 30-day rehabs?

30-day rehab programs in Colorado cluster in Pueblo, Aspen Park, Littleton, Denver and Englewood, with listings for short residential stays gathered around these communities. Pueblo and Denver also serve as larger hubs for people traveling from across the state.

Fort Collins is another sizable city nearby. Someone starting in Fort Collins can compare short residential programs listed in Denver, Littleton and Englewood with any nearer options.

30-Day Rehab Centers in Denverhttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/colorado/denver/30-day-rehab-denver/
Does Health First Colorado cover 30-day rehab in Colorado?

Health First Colorado, the state Medicaid program, is recorded as accepted by most of the 30-day rehab programs in Colorado. Behavioral health coverage runs through regional plans such as Rocky Mountain Health Plans, Northeast Health Partners, Colorado Community Health Alliance and Colorado Access, so intake staff can confirm which one applies.

Rehab Centers in Colorado That Accept Health First Coloradohttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/colorado/health-first-colorado/
Are there 30-day rehabs near a river in Colorado?

Within 25 miles of a river sit most of the 30-day rehab programs in Colorado, and the median distance from listed facilities to the nearest one is about 10.3 miles.

The North Fork South Platte River, the Saint Charles River and the Burgess River are the most-named rivers near these programs. Distances are measured from each listed facility to the nearest river, so a program's own surroundings may differ from the figure.

Rehab Centers Near Rivershttps://rehabseekers.com/attractions/rivers/

What does a 30-day rehab program in Colorado involve?

A 30-day program in Colorado is a planned stay of about four weeks at a residential or inpatient level of care, with treatment and housing in one place. Short-stay options appear among residential rehab in Colorado and inpatient rehab in Colorado.

Detox alone is shorter and focuses only on withdrawal. A partial hospitalization program offers full treatment days while the person sleeps at home, and long-term stays run for several months. No single length suits everyone, so a clinician’s assessment usually decides both the setting and the length of a stay.

Daily schedules vary by program, but most stays follow a similar outline. Intake staff begin with an assessment of drug and alcohol use, physical and mental health, and home circumstances. Withdrawal management follows if needed, most of the stay is individual and group therapy, and discharge planning starts early.

Programs that offer medication for opioid use disorder (buprenorphine, methadone or naltrexone) or for alcohol use disorder (naltrexone or acamprosate) can start or continue it on site. Acamprosate is used after withdrawal and does not treat withdrawal itself. Health First Colorado and private plans decide coverage through medical-necessity reviews rather than a fixed count of days.

Why alcohol and benzodiazepine withdrawal needs medical care

Alcohol and benzodiazepine withdrawal can cause seizures and other serious complications, so stopping either one should happen under medical supervision. A program without on-site withdrawal management may ask for a stay at a Colorado detox program first.

Is a 30-day program the right length, and who decides?

No single length is right for everyone. A clinician sets the level of care and how long it lasts through an assessment, usually based on ASAM criteria. Those criteria weigh withdrawal risk, medical and mental health needs, readiness for change, risk of a return to use, and the home environment.

A shorter stay may suit someone who is medically stable, has a safe place to go, and can step down to day or evening treatment. A clinician may suggest more time when withdrawal was complicated, when a co-occurring condition needs attention, or when home is unsafe. That extra time may come through a longer residential stay in Colorado or a Colorado PHP.

Does Health First Colorado or private insurance pay for a 30-day stay?

Health First Colorado pays for residential substance use treatment, and private plans may as well. Coverage is set for each person through a medical-necessity decision. Neither type of plan works from a fixed number of days. Since July 1, 2025, Regional Accountable Entities (RAEs) have managed Medicaid behavioral health care. The RAEs are Rocky Mountain Health Plans, including RMHP Prime, in Region 1; Northeast Health Partners in Region 2; Colorado Community Health Alliance in Region 3; and Colorado Access in Region 4. Elevate (Denver Health) Medicaid Choice is a separate plan. Members can ask their RAE how prior authorization and continued-stay decisions work. The guide to Medicaid rehab coverage explains more.

Health First Colorado publishes daily fee-for-service rates for residential treatment. The rates below run from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027. They show what the state pays providers at each ASAM level, not what a member pays.

ASAM levelType of residential careDaily rate
3.1Clinically managed, low intensity$186.20
3.3Clinically managed, population-specific$287.39
3.5Clinically managed, high intensity$416.50
3.7Medically monitored, intensive inpatient$656.11

Private insurers apply their own medical-necessity rules. A plan may authorize a set number of days and then decide whether to cover more, so the admissions team can explain what a plan has authorized. People without coverage can ask about funding through the Behavioral Health Administration, which oversees federal block grant money for substance use treatment. They can also look at state-funded rehab in Colorado. Pregnant members and those up to a year postpartum may qualify for Health First Colorado’s Special Connections program, which includes women-only residential treatment.

How can I look up a Colorado residential program’s license?

A Colorado residential program’s license can be looked up through the Behavioral Health Administration (BHA). The BHA issues the Behavioral Health Entity (BHE) base license that these programs hold, along with added authorizations for specific services. A practical first step is to ask the admissions team for the license and which residential services it covers. You can then find the provider on the BHA’s licensing pages or on OwnPath, the state’s treatment directory. Accreditation from a national body is separate from the state license.

Where can people in Colorado find support once a 30-day stay ends?

Support after a 30-day stay in Colorado usually follows a step-down plan written before discharge. That plan may include an intensive outpatient program, outpatient care, recovery housing, peer support or continued medication. Options include a Colorado IOP and Suboxone clinics in Colorado for ongoing buprenorphine. For now, the Colorado Association of Recovery Residences (CARR) certifies recovery residences. Under SB 26-113, the BHA will accept licensure applications from May 1, 2027, and residences must be BHA-licensed by July 1, 2027. Listings for sober living in Colorado show what each house reports.
